What to do with neighbours?

We are FTB, West & East European, have lived in Belfast for a while and are about to move into our new home. We are in our 30s, chill and calm couple, want to have kids in couple of years and live a peaceful life.

We are about to move into our new home soon and noticed that quite a few flags got put up on neighbouring houses. This is a terraced houses street, so everything is quite close by.

We thought to put in cards into the doors, where we would introduce ourselves, maybe add a bar of chocolate too. Now as we saw the flags we are not sure if that would be a good idea as by our names it would be obvious that we are not local.

Is it better to stay discreet and don’t interact with neighbours at all, only say hi on the street, or should we still share the cards? Should we do it only to direct houses attached to ours or to houses opposite to us too? Honestly not sure what would be best and how to stay safe during anti-immigration sentiment.

How long did it take you from AIP to final mortgage offer?

Just got Agreement in Principle from HSBC and feel so excited, how long does it usually take for them to issue final offer? We have no chain, but we are renting, so it would be amazing to complete everything in August, not sure if it is possible even if we won’t be doing survey.

Online group classes, which use De Opmaat?

Hey, I have been trying to learn Dutch for a while already. I purchased De Opmaat book to study and I like it, but I find it really hard to organise myself and I think that I would thrive better in a group setting.

Any recommendations for online course / group class, which would use De Opmaat as study material?

Thank you so much in advance!!

What happened to Layd church and cemetery?

Visited recently for a first time and even though the views were absolutely stunning, the place itself gave me creeps. What happened to it? Why all graves look like that? There were a couple of newish burials in 2020s but it still looks abandoned and haunted. Can’t find any info really. ChatGPT said that cemetery itself is still properly functioning, but for sure that couldn’t be the case, right?

Are there any rumours or tales about ghosts in that place? It really gave me an eerie vibe

First Week - Results

Completed my first week on 2.5 mg!

Lost 2 kg, managed to lose fat and gain muscle according to smart scales.

I have been doing CICO and averaging around 10k steps per day.

For some reason, I expected it to kick off straight away and I thought that I won’t feel hunger at all anymore. It really took some time to notice that it actually does something. I started counting calories, and even though food noise and hunger were still there, I felt that it has become easier for me to say “No” to certain foods and stop myself from overeating. I noticed these cases more on the days 3-4 though, so I would lower expectations and won’t expect a miracle straight away.

Low-key I kind of like that I still feel hunger though, I feel like it helps to build more sustainable long-therm coping strategies for future maintenance.

But all of this still keeps weightoss hard, I am so sure that if I wouldn’t keep track of calories I would definetely easily overeat this week 🥲

Obviously I have been upping my protein and even though it is important and great thing to do, I would suggest to do it gradually, because when I jumped straight to 200 g of protein per day I faced constipation, but on 120-150 g I had no problem with still modest amount of fiber (really need some fiber recs).

Also I did PRK surgery couple of years ago, so caught a dry eye. Tried drinking loads or water and using eyedrops, it didn’t help, but adding hycosan night gel and electrolytes did the job.

During the first injection, I had a bit of rash around injection area, but on the next day it wasn’t visible anymore. I got a small bruise there though, but I have a very sensitive skin. Recently did a second injection in other thigh and had no reaction or bruising.

Still need to put so much work in, as well as discipline and willpower. I really don’t understand all this GLP1-shaming at all, this just weightloss bearable, you still need to put in all the work.

If you are on your first week right now and still have hunger and food noise, just know that you are not alone and it will get easier with the second jab. Just bear with it one week at a time. We can do it.

I’m afraid that even this won’t work

I have done so much dieting in my life. CICO, intermitting fasting, vegan, mediterranean, gym 4 times a week, cardio 3 times a week, walking 12k steps every day, protein-first meals, low-carb diet, “No Added Sugar” challenges, don’t drink alcohol anymore since the start of this year, I don’t eat UPF for about two years, did individual and group therapy for emotional/binge eating as well, all weight is still there and in yearly trends comparison I do slowly gain more every year as I age. Picked up my pen and going to start tomorrow. But I am just so scared, that even this is not going to work. This is my last resort and if it doesn’t work I don’t even know what I should even try. Feel like this is my last option. This scares me so much.

Going to start this week, doubting myself which day of the week would be the best to start. Don’t want to be completely useless at work because of possible nausea, but also kind of want to enjoy the weekend too. I tend to overeat more during the weekend though, and read that effect tends to wear off by end of the week after injection, so maybe it makes sense to start on week day.

Looking to hear experiences of others. Which day did you choose and why?
