AC in hotter climates

I feel dumb for not thinking about it earlier. PIMO, in sacrament someone was visiting from another country and said they didn't have AC there in their chapels. And I realized, the church can totally afford AC in every single building in the world. Imagine how the church could be a refuge from the heat for potential converts but they don't want to.

Made a joke that went over my TBM wife's head

We were at a zoo and they had tapirs. She made the comment that they're bigger than she thought.

I said. "You could almost ride them like horses." "Yeah, you could!"

She doesn't know any apologetics but I was laughing inside.

What is something that only a Mormon might understand if you tell it?

I put the tag NSFW just in case something shows up in the comments, but mine is super innocent.

Remember in the hymnbooks on either side there are the pages/cover that are green and have bubble like shapes? As a kid in sacrament meeting I imagined swimming around that water like the opening scene of the Land Before Time (which is on Netflix right now if anyone needs a reference point). Only Mormons might know that page, so a very core memory for me can only be shared you animals.

The Miracle of Forgiveness

I completely understand all the hate and I am not in any way, shape, or form defending it. But during my mission we were told we weren't allowed to read it because missionaries would end up feeling guilty and wanting to go home. So naturally, because I'm an avid reader, I read it. I *could* see how the guilt could get to someone but I just didn't get it. I felt fine. I had some unresolved stuff I carried in but I figured God had forgiven me.

Am I a lucky one? That the programming of shame didn't quite take? To this day I give myself plenty of grace but I worry it's to the point of being apathetic.

False Temple Scarcity

So pre COVID I remember just being able to just drop into the temple and always got in. Now I don't hold a recommend but my wife goes and if she misses her appointment, she's SOL. I find it hard to believe that suddenly everyone wants to go to the temple so that it's hard to get in.

My theory is they looked at the data of check-ins and created intentional bottlenecks during popular times so that it gives the illusion of scarcity.

Anyone else notice this?

Are Mormons bad tippers?

I actually don't know. I've never had a job that depended on tips, so I nothing to compare to. A lot of Mormons I know are really cheap and I've seen poor tipping, but it's anecdotal.

Those of you who have worked in service in and out of predominantly Mormon areas, what are your observations?

Matt Fredd (Freed?) did a video on 7 reasons why JS was a false prophet. Nothing new for anyone here. But I see Mormons crashing out on TIKTOK. They literally called the Catholic Church the great and abominable church for decades if not a century, but can't handle when a Catholic roasts JS.
