Where to find actually comfortable lug sole loafers?

As the title suggests, I’m looking for recommendations for comfortable, all leather, lug sole loafers.

After my first round of research, I ordered a pair of Madewell Corinne loafers off of eBay. Bought my usual size and they are incredibly tight across the tops of my feet and in the toe box.

I’m bummed because I love the style but don’t want to chance ordering a half size up and being disappointed all over again.

I’ve been shopping secondhand because it feels like enshittification has consumed everything you can buy new when it comes to shoes and clothing.

Any recommendations would be appreciated! I don’t mind buying new if someone can speak to the quality.

Real Multifunction?

Can anyone tell me about vintage multifunctions? When did they start adding the tiny hang tag?

Devastated

A few weeks ago, I picked up this Nicholas Drawstring off FB marketplace from its original owner. It was in such great shape and well taken care of, I put it right in my closet with my other bags and skipped my typical vinegar spray-down.

After weeks of working on other bags, I decided to condition her because after 30+ years I figured she was dry (the previous owner told me she never did any upkeep other than a dry shoeshine cloth). After letting it rest overnight after conditioning, I discovered what appears to be mold measles. I am freaking out because it’s been sitting in my closet with my other bags and my clothes for 3+ weeks. I immediately sprayed it down with vinegar and have her quarantined from my other bags.

I vinegar sprayed and wiped down all my other bags it was close to over the last few weeks. My anxiety is crazy right now. So my question for the community is, how likely is it that the mold has spread to my other bags? My clothes? How does it work? It was in a closet with everything I own.

Please share your experience with late discovery of mold on a bag. Is this mold?

First 4 pics are before conditioning, the rest are from today.

Genuine Vintage Bally Duffle Bag?

As the title suggests, I’m wondering if this leather duffle is genuine Bally. The exterior leather, while beat up, feels genuine and soft. I’m unfamiliar with the brand though so have no idea if the inside tag means it’s genuine. Thanks for any guidance.

Vintage Companion Bag Rehab Before and After

Just finished the rehab on this gorgeous pre-1994 Companion bag which was generously gifted to me by a fellow Redditor. It was my biggest project to date and taught me so much along the way, especially cleaning the interior.

I’m obsessed with how it turned out and the beautiful color. She’s going to be my new everyday bag!

Here’s what I did:
- Vacuumed the interior and slowly worked at unsticking what appeared to be a piece of gum or something from the back of the flap pocket. Got the interior as clean as I could.
- light misting of 5% distilled vinegar inside and out. Let dry completely for 24 hours.
- cleaned the interior with Angelus suede cleaner - my takeaway: less is more. I used too much and it made the suede kinda hard. Waited 24 hours for it to dry and brushed it out.
- cleaned the zipper, ball chain, and D rings with Brasso and polished them with a 4 way nail file. I did not clean the hardware on the strap because the patina is already pretty even and beautiful.
- I went straight to conditioning the strap. Put Bick 4 on a sponge, folded the sponge in half over the strap and ran it up and down the length of the strap.
- cleaned the entire outside of the bag with Lexol 1. Put 1 Tbsp of Lexol 1 in 1 cup of water. I used a round horsehair brush to administer it on the bag and create a good lather.
Damp washcloth to wipe off any lingering cleaner. Dry washcloth off. I worked in sections, doing the front, sides, bottom, and back. While the bag was wet, I carefully stuffed it with wash cloths to help shape it. It’s important to be intentional in this step and not just cram towels in the bag. You are reshaping the leather, so be careful. Keep the bag stuffed until you are done with all of the following steps.
Wait 24+ hours so the bag is completely dry.
- Conditioned with Bick 4. I wore nitrile gloves, put the Bick on my hands and rubbed it on the bag. I spent a while massaging it in to make sure it was even across the bag, in the creases and on the piping. Gentle wiped off any excess with a microfiber cloth.
- let the bag rest overnight.
- gently buffed the bag with a horsehair brush, spending 5ish minutes on each section.
- did a photoshoot :)

Supplies used:
- Spray bottle with 5% distilled vinegar
- Lexol 1
- Bick 4
- Brasso
- horsehair brushes
- microfiber cloths
- 4 way nail file
- sponge
- towels for stuffing the bag to shape it

I followed instructions from the Vintage Coach Project Bag Marketplace group. It’s been an amazing resource for me! Happy to answer any other questions.

Vintage Handle Backpack - Double Checking Authenticity

I think I’m getting the hang of determining authenticity with vintage Coach. This one seems to be real given the stitching, creed, and bullseye stamp next to it. Can someone confirm?

Also, I feel like I’ve seen bullseye stamps on fakes, so it’s not always necessarily a slam dunk on authenticity. Anyone have a take on that?

Any advice?

Just received this 9960 I ordered off poshmark. It’s in rougher shape than what was pictured which isn’t the end of the world. I bought it with the intention of rehabbing it, but I’m new at this and super paranoid about mold. Does this look moldy at all? I’m nervous about the white marks on the front bottom of the bag. Where would you start with this?

Update: eBay bid gone right

I posted the other day that I won an impulsive eBay bid on this vintage Coach companion bag. Thank you to everyone who reassured me that it looks legit. I received it yesterday and wanted to update y’all. She’s definitely real Coach and looks even better in person! The Costa Rica leather is so luxurious and soft. It’s going to be my everyday bag.

There’s a very vague cigarette smell to the interior. Not enough to be upsetting but if you have any tips on how to get rid of that smell please lmk!
