Too skinny?

Too skinny?

This is baby Len. We recently rehomed him and although we’ve always had dogs he’s our first sighthound so we’re very much on a learning curve!

I know obviously they are meant to be lean, but just wondering if people think he’s too skinny? He eats like a horse but I feel like he’s just a little too ribby and that his hips protrude out a bit too much and obviously I’ll increase/change food if needed

Very active (only a year old) and recently neutered which I know can cause gaining

He’s 21kg. The vet didn’t seem too sure of the answer tbh so was interested got peoples opinions on here 😊

Early morning zooms

We adopted a one year old lurcher recently and he needs further training which is mostly coming along, more so when we are out the house

The one thing we really feel out of control with is his morning energy. 6am comes and he’s jumping on us on the bed, harassing our other dog (who will sometimes play but they’re both very vocal when they play so either way it’s loud!). If we try to correct him he’ll just think we’re playing along. Taking things that aren’t his into the garden. He’s just generally getting into mischief first thing whereas in the day he’ll mostly sleep

Obviously we adopted a high energy dog and accept that, he gets two walks a day and regular runs in a secure field. We go out first thing so maybe he’s anticipating it. He has enrichment toys and stuff to chew on which we redirect him to.

The mornings are just a bit much and I’m looking for tips or advice. We will not crate him as he finds it extremely distressing

keeping a young lurcher calm post op

our one year old lurcher is being castrated next week but it’s a cryptorchid procedure so the recovery, all being well, will be around two weeks

I’m dreading it! How can I keep him calm for two weeks? He’s usually on two walks a day including a sprint in a secure field two times a week as well as regular zoomies round the garden! which keeps him relatively calm in the house (most of the time) and to go from that to nothing I’m worried it will send him stir crazy. his training is coming along so well but I’m worried he’ll revert to his ways of stealing everything and just being a bit of a pickle in general and we’ll go backward and lose our progress :(

we are not going to crate him, he’s a recent rescue and he finds the crate extremely distressing. we already have lots of enrichment/interactive toys for him, and he’s a foodie so enjoys that type.

just looking for any tips anyone can give on how we can get through it!

Counter surfing and stealing

How did people get their lurchers out of taking things that aren’t theirs to take?

Ours is a rescue, still only young and I’m not convinced he’s ever been in a home rather than a kennel. Not had him long and I know he’ll learn with time and consistency. Just looking for tips!

He will sneak into the kitchen and take anything even remotely tasty. If there’s nothing resembling food he’ll often just go elsewhere and take something else like a door stop or a cushion etc. Most of the time you can see it’s for the chase as he’ll run out into the garden, so I follow the advice of trading for one of his toys etc.

He has enrichment toys and a huge garden. He has a lot of exercise (morning and evening) and lots of mental stimulation, we play/train a lot with him. He’s just a big baby who needs to learn better ways and I’m wondering people’s recommendations on how to help him with that!

Mods, why are so many posts being removed?

I posted something completely non offensive and I put a spoiler alert, but it was removed?

I went to check my comment on a post about who killed Theo, the post was completely inoffensive but again it’s been removed

I’ve sent a direct message but no response

Why is everything being removed?
