Gonna get flamed by ao ashi fans but it doesn’t have worldwide appeal to all genders and demographics, just niche football fans who care about realism and fans need to trash blue lock to be relevant

But they can’t be surprised when ao aishi doesn’t capture the general audience who don’t watch soccer and the female audience (That straight love triangle harem with the two girls confessing to the mc is a repellant)

Blue lock is as successful as it is since it knows how to cater to both audiences male and female (for men Aura, death game hook, egotistical ideologies, slander, hype and ranking systems, for women shipping and complicated relationships, pretty designs, fanservice spinoff manga, material to draw fanart and write) and are able to monetize it via merchandise, stage plays, movies etc.

I know their fans will always be like it’s better than blue lock!!! It’s realistic!!! etc but I think it’s meant only for diehard male football fans, but tbh I think a large portion of this sub don’t watch irl soccer since we are fans of blue lock for other reasons
