My Favourite Ice Cream Places

I have been getting ice cream pretty much twice a month for 2 years now. This is my current ranking. Anything else I should try?

  1. Bilmonte in Soho - this is my goto. I love the double pistachio and the chocolate cups are so decadently delicious.
  2. Gelatone in Covent Garden - this was a new one i tried over the weekend and its very good. I had the lemon and mango which were both fantastic. It hasnt topped Bilmonte for me yet, but I will go again next week.
  3. Badiani - i try not to go to any of the chains, but if there is no other option this is my favourite. I love the caramel
  4. Danieli in Richmond is also very good, I dont get around to it enough, but def one of my favourites.
  5. Gelupo in Soho - this one was very hyped and I have eaten there 3 times now. I enjoy it, but with Bilmonte just 10 meters away, I would much rather go there.
  6. Venchi - I have been there twice, and while it ok, I would much rather try someplace new or avoid the calories (yes i know that doesnt make sense especially as i said i have ice cream multiple times a month).

What else should i try, especially smaller independant one's around central?

My thoughts on Fallow

I went to Fallow last night and have mixed feelings. I kept my expectations in check as much as i could, and genuinely had a lovely evening. The food was good and the service was exceptional.

I was seated at the counter as well which I think was the best because you can see the chefs.

In terms of the food, the shortribs, mushroom parfait, cornribs were all good.

The cods head was ok, was something to try but i wouldn't get it again. a few nice pieces of meat but the rest were quite chewy.

the sourdough bread was not nice in anyway, even the flavour was very offputting for fresh bread.

We had the oysters which were good (can only be good or horrible i guess) and the chicken katsu bao which was also very good.

We decided to stay away from the dessert they show a lot the chelsea tart i believe and instead got the carrot cake soft serve which was excellent and the highlight for me.

I recorded quite a few videos and at one point one of the chefs made an accidental move and spilled the sauce on the floor. what was phenomenal though was how everyone reacted and it was all reset and cleaned up within 2 mins.

If you DM us reels of places you want to go (restaurants or any location) we find the locations mentioned and save it on a map

I have made a launch video as well and am probably going to hire some creators for it over the next few weeks, but would love some feedback on it.

https://www.letsdiscover.app/features/drops

for added context
- the basic feature was built in 2 days, but i have spent over 10 days just testing and finding so many edge cases where the whole system breaks. i think i have worked those out now, but would be great if you could test and find issues as well.
- it works well on reels but for some reason with posts, we cant fetch the url and have to ask the user to paste the link to us.
- it usually find the place and saves it within a minute, but if we need to do OCR that can take a couple of extra minutes.

How to get in London Articles?

Hi, I have a lot of ideas and content on articles that would be interesting for Londoners to read. I was wondering what is the best way to get these in front of journalists or publications?

Built a creator-led London city guide app. 35k recommendations, growing organically. Roast the concept or the name.

Hello There!

Been building Lets Discover for just over a year, it's a London city guide where every recommendation comes from a verified local creator (food bloggers, neighbourhood explorers, lifestyle influencers) rather than anonymous reviewers.

The core idea: people already trust specific creators on Instagram/TikTok to tell them where to eat and drink. We've put all of those recommendations on one interactive map, with video previews and direct booking, so you don't have to scrape 12 different Instagram saves to plan a night out.

Where we're at:

  • 35,000+ mapped recommendations from London creators
  • iOS + Android, free (with some creator maps paid)
  • Growing organically, no paid acquisition
  • London for now

What I'm genuinely unsure about and would love a roast on:

  1. The name: "Lets Discover" is fine but not exactly memorable. Is it a problem? Another name i considered was "Only Places"
  2. The positioning: "anti TripAdvisor" vs "creator-led guide"; which is clearer to someone who's never heard of us?
  3. The cold start problem: we solved it by aggregating creator content rather than asking users to generate it, but does that model scale outside London?

Have at it :-)
