I've had this pattern where I'm always eating like shit after dinner because I always feel like I 'earned' it. Tonight I was listening to Goggins and it was the first time in years I didn't binge on bullshit food after dinner, got out, and ran 4k.

Had a lot of water with yoghurt with oatmeal afterwards. A small win. Thanks Goggins.

Favorite places in Almaty to have a coffee without noise and air pollution?

Hi all, I'm visiting from the Netherlands. Almaty is a great city. I'm curious to hear what your favorite places are to have a coffee, without the air and noise pollution from traffic? I understand I can also go into the mountains to get away from that but I'm also looking for a nice place in the city.

5 June - 12 June Almaty, Kazakhstan

Hi all I am heading to Kazakhstan and looking to meet some people who are up for a hike together near Almaty, or going out to get some dinner. I'm a 40 yo guy from the Netherlands and I was in Kyrgyzstan last year, now I'm excited to see Kazakhstan.

I will land in beginning of June in Almaty, my return flight is 2 weeks later. I want to see Kazakhstan, and hopefully another country.

Some info:

  • My interests: Mountain hiking and city life.
  • I would like to be at a place with some facilities like restaurants, hotels/guest houses with showers
  • Looking for suggestions other than Kyrgyzstan (I have already been to Karakol)

I believe Tashkent and Dushanbe are out of the question, because of the temperatures. Are there any spots you could recommend I go to where it's cooler?
