Any suggestions to stabilize this circular base on a hacked side table?

I just put a really gorgeous slab of walnut on a 9" circle base from an old table. It's weird looking but it works for what I need except the small round metal base is unstable. The base is welded to the stem so I can't take it off.

Short of screwing the round plate to a 2x10, I don't have any ideas so I'm asking the creative hive for suggestions.

Help: Odies Oil smell - why and how to get rid of it?

I used Odies Oil on walnut veneer nightstand with a solid walnut drawer. Removed Bombay Company color finish with stripper and carbide scraper which worked fine. Cleaned residue with acetone, sanded to 220.

Nightstand 1: Used Varithane medium walnut stain (water-based), waited a day and finished with Odies Oil. Stunk of chemicals to high heaven even after off-gassing under gazebo for two weeks. Put it in the garage.

Gave up and tried Nightstand 2: Same prep, applied Odies Oil only. Wiped on light coat, wiped off barely any residue. Buffed to smooth, satin. Still smells. Can't sleep next to this thing.

What did I do wrong and how can I fix it?

TIA. Also hauling it up and down stairs to work outside is a nightmare so less exhaustive suggestions is appreciated.

Looking for ideas to cover this ugly bed frame without a dust ruffle.

Hoping someone has a creative idea to cover this ugly bed frame that isn't a dust ruffle.

The bed has a headboard but the frame isn't attached to the headboard.

I made the leg cover in the last picture for a different bed but I can't see a way to make it work on this frame.

Any ideas are welcome! TIA
