New to Dallas - relocated from chicago

Like the title said, new to Dallas from chicago. 34F that was just looking for warmer weather and to get out of my toxic job.

Would love some recommendations on coed adult soccer leagues that are close to the city. Back in Chicago we had the fire pitch which had about 4 games going on at once attached to a bar/restaurant. Is there anything similar to that down here? If there is, are individual signups something considered?

I also am a runner and would consider doing a run club to meet people.

What else would you recommend for my first few months in Dallas to either meet friends, good eats, things to do, places to see etc.

Open to any and all recommendations as I get my footing.

Thanks!

Considering moving from Chicago to Melbourne

Hi! Like the title said, considering moving from Chicago to Melbourne for work. This is a transfer with my current company. Have been considering a move for awhile now as Chicago winters have finally started to impact me negatively. Born and raised here and 33 years old.

I know some information from googling and personal research but it’s immensely helpful to get the perspective from a local.

I would like to live on the water and my current rent is 2,300 USD per month for an 1 bedroom in Chicago. Along with other expenses, phone, car, insurance, cat.

What are the good areas? What should I know about the city, costs, communities, activities, literally anything.

What should a lifelong Chicagoan be aware of?

Also on my free time I am a director of a semi-professional women’s soccer team and play coed rec as well. I would love the same opportunities moving forward.

Thank you all in advance!

Edit: not super into the party scene, that time has come and passed. But appreciate the Chicago cocktail scene for a nice drink and good diverse food.

Also how is it finding a group of friends? Sport has always brought me my closest friends. In a relationship and would be moving together.
