Best Mie, and Nasi Geprek around university ally in Panjer

We moved from Kuta to Panjer about six weeks ago, and we're still finding our feet.

Mie Gacoan is solid and consistently good, but I need a break from it.

So far I've found:

  • Rumah Makan Minang Simpang Ampek – beef rendang
  • SFC (Shella Fried Chicken Toko) – geprek

What else am I missing?

I'm looking for good local lunch spots around Jl. Tukad Pakerisan. Warungs, nasi campur, bakso, soto, mie ayam, babi guling... pretty much anything that's good value and worth becoming a regular at.

I'd much rather hear local favourites than Google/ChatGPT recommendations.

Grimme Shelter type bar in Sanur

Moved to South East Denpasar, Canggu is way to far to go for a weekly hardcore Emo Punk night (90 min one way)

Looking for a underground bar, gritty, loud local rock, emo and punk music closer to Sanur, who's got the best place?

What doorbell / camera do you recommend?

We have just moved to our first villa after living in Kost and Hotels for the past 5 years.

We are security-minded and keep the big gate at the front closed, but love online shopping, and get food deliveries every few days (grab, Shoppe Food, etc)

Since the gate is a barrier and we are inside with the AC on, we dont hear our delivery partners when they arrive.

which doorbell/camera do you recommend we use? We are only renting, so we want something that can be removed when we move out.

It has to be able to survive Denpsar's heat and rain. I was thinking of Ring and linking it to my Australian Amazon account, but I'm not sure if there is something better? My partner wants to get some Anker Eufy cameras. Do they do good doorbells?

Edit: Bali, Indonesia.

Food advice

I’m an Australian-Indonesian in KL for another two weeks.

My wife will be joining me on Thursday.

She is not a fan of Western food and is already asking where she can get some proper Indonesian food.

As for me, I’m craving bakso and ayam krispy.

So tell me, where around Mont Kiara can we find good Indonesian food that feels like the warungs back home?

EDIT: Im here for my Visa and to be a tourist.

Looking to cast a friendly net around Sanur, Kuta, and Tanah Lot.

I’m after purely platonic connections—I’m happily engaged and getting married late next year, so this isn’t about dating or anything romantic.

My routine’s pretty chill: I usually end up at Grimme in Tanah Lot on Friday nights, and I’m done with work by 3pm most days, so evenings are wide open.

Keen to meet people who are into dive bars, live gigs, and a bit of geeky tabletop gaming energy.

My partner and I are pretty intertwined socially, so if we hang out, chances are you’ll cross paths with them at some point too.

If that sounds like your vibe, feel free to reach out—DMs are open.
