Relocation advice

Hi everyone,

I'm evaluating Mysore as a retirement destination and I'm visiting for two days. I'd love real-world input from locals and people who've relocated.

My situation: I want to buy a plot in a gated community and build a villa. I'm looking for amenities like a pool, gym, badminton, tennis and basketball. My son is 8 and I'd like him to pursue serious cricket coaching.

What I'm looking at so far: Brigade Oak Tree Place (KRS Road), SOBHA Boulevard, and Vyasti and Ishya layouts on Bannur, Hunsur, and Nanjangud roads.

My questions:

  1. Which gated communities in or around Mysore have genuinely good amenities and are actually occupied? Any you'd avoid?
  2. What are plots and construction costs really running these days?
  3. Which CBSE or ICSE schools have real cricket programmes and compete in inter-school tournaments?
  4. Are there academies you'd recommend for an 8-year-old? How competitive is the pathway to KSCA age-group teams from Mysore, compared with Bengaluru?
  5. For retirees: how are healthcare, flight connectivity, and daily life, say in monsoon season or on a typical weekday?
  6. Anything you wish you'd known before moving?

Happy to share what I find on my trip. Thanks!

Returning NRI — Need advice on Bangalore neighborhoods

Hey everyone,

I’m an NRI planning to move back to Bangalore. Since I’ve been out of the loop for a while and the city’s real estate and infrastructure have shifted significantly, I’d love to get some perspective from locals and fellow parents.

I don’t have any location constraints from a work perspective, which gives us total flexibility. Our main criteria revolve around our son's education and sports:

  1. Top CBSE Schools: A well-reputed CBSE school with strong academics and holistic development.

  2. Cricket Coaching Infrastructure: Access to quality, structured cricket coaching/academies with solid facilities (turf wickets, match exposure, certified coaches).

We are planning a trip to Bangalore soon to scout localities, visit a few schools/academies, and check out residential projects/gated communities.

Looking for recommendations on:

Best Micro-Markets / Neighborhoods: Which areas naturally offer a good cluster of reputed CBSE schools and top-tier cricket academies nearby? (e.g., North Bangalore / Yelahanka, Whitefield / Sarjapur Road, South Bangalore, etc.)

Residential Projects / Gated Communities:Any specific societies or builder projects in those localities known for good family amenities and sports facilities.

Schools & Academies to shortlist: Any standout CBSE schools or cricket coaching academies we should put on our itinerary to visit?

Budget: 2 - 3 Crores. But flexible to extend a bit. Prefer buying a Ready to move apartment with OC.

Thanks in advance for your inputs.
