Hi everyone,

I'm evaluating Mysore as a retirement destination and I'm visiting for two days. I'd love real-world input from locals and people who've relocated.

My situation: I want to buy a plot in a gated community and build a villa. I'm looking for amenities like a pool, gym, badminton, tennis and basketball. My son is 8 and I'd like him to pursue serious cricket coaching.

What I'm looking at so far: Brigade Oak Tree Place (KRS Road), SOBHA Boulevard, and Vyasti and Ishya layouts on Bannur, Hunsur, and Nanjangud roads.

My questions:

Which gated communities in or around Mysore have genuinely good amenities and are actually occupied? Any you'd avoid?
What are plots and construction costs really running these days?
Which CBSE or ICSE schools have real cricket programmes and compete in inter-school tournaments?
Are there academies you'd recommend for an 8-year-old? How competitive is the pathway to KSCA age-group teams from Mysore, compared with Bengaluru?
For retirees: how are healthcare, flight connectivity, and daily life, say in monsoon season or on a typical weekday?
Anything you wish you'd known before moving?
