Anyone Else's Loved One Live in A Terrarium?

Today was the warmest day so far this year, mid 80's.

94 year old grandfather has all his windows shut and locked, all his blinds open letting the sun in, and his central AC still shut off.

He was wearing flannel pajama pants and a thick cardigan sweater. His thermostat read 86F in his house.

I lasted about 10 minutes before I told him I had to leave, his house was too uncomfortable.

Last summer he didn't turn his AC on until July when the house was hitting the 90's inside.

It was around the middle of July when he asked us to put away his winter clothes and flannel bed sheets, and take down his summer clothes and sheets.

Two months later, mid-September, he asked us to bring his winter clothes back down.

Don't need any advice here, just wanted to vent/rant a bit. I know your circulation gets worse as you get older but god damn.

Disney Has Made Caribbean Beach Near Deluxe Level Prices For Half The Resort.

I know this doesn't affect most people, and quite a few aren't a fan or the resort, but I am.

So much a fan I've stayed at the resort 18 times since 1991, this fall with make 19.

This resort has 24 buildings. Prior to 2026, six of those buildings were preferred rooms, the rest were standard.

As of his year, they changed another six buildings to preferred.

So it's split down the middle 50-50.

The preferred rooms, depending on the time of year are running $400-500 a night.

Before someone wants to be pedantic, I know Deluxe resorts can go much higher.

I know Disney has been getting more and more expensive, I know CBR is the Skyliner hub, but am I crazy to think that having 50% of the resort costing between $4-500 a night is INSANE for a moderate resort?

In the past year or two he's shown minor cognitive decline, but his doctor and a neurologist have both said he doesn't show signs of actual dementia, just normal cognitive decline for his age (he saw a neurologist just a few months ago).

This recent obsession has become annoying though, and I'm curious "where it comes from" psychologically. For instance, he's become worried about home security. He wants a Ring camera and asked me how they work. I told them it's very simple. He already has a doorbell, so he can get wired one and not worry about a battery one like I have. "We just remove your current doorbell, and then wire it the Ring up to it. Just a couple wires, quick job. I can do it in less than half an hour."My grandfather responds, "So you have to remove my entire doorbell? How does that work? That's a huge job." I'm confused and say....."No.....we flip the breaker, unscrew the current one, remove the wiring, wire up the Ring, and screw it in." He then says, "But the doorbell is in my hallway."

Now I'm confused and ask what the hell he's talking about. He starts rambling about the doorbell and the hallway, and a big electrical job.......Then I realize he's talking about the actual "chime mechanism"......I tell him I'm talking about "the button".....and he gets upset and tells me, "Well that's not the doorbell, the doorbell is what makes the nose. You should have said button. Meanwhile, just a few days earlier someone came to his door and he said, "Oh, someone is ringing the back doorbell."

Another recent example. I got a flat tire. Told him, "I put on my spare tire, going to take it to the shop tomorrow to get a new tire." He asks, "Why, you already put on a spare." I said, "Yeah, the spare tire. I need a new one."He said, "But you already put on a new one."

That lead to another "argument" before he said, "You're talking about a donut, not a spare tire. A donut is a temporary tire. A spare tire is a real one that you have as an extra."I know for a FACT he has used the phrase "spare tire" over the years to refer to a "donut."

Is this some kind of weird anxiety/control issue?
