My dog is almost 12 years old and for the past few weeks hes been acting off. It started off with some slight bleeding in his mouth and our old vet had told us it was just a tooth that had fallen out. Our dog had a majority of his teeth removed due to old age and decay. As the weeks went by we noticed it kept bleeding so we took him to a different vet. This vet checked him out and told us it looked like he had a mouth ulcer. He was then put on meds for this and we were told to wait a week and come back. Through out this week he experienced nose bleeds and he is still constantly leaking mucus from his nose, lots of snot. A week later we took him back to the vet and they opened his mouth up, and the moment the vet looked she stated it was more than a month ulcer. She said it looked like cancer. It wasnt that much compared to this photo. She told us we should get him under anesthesia to ensure what it was so we did. This was just today but im unable to process this and we wont get the results for the next few days but im 100% sure this may be cancer or a tumor. Im so heartbroken to see that this is literally decaying his mouth, it feels selfish to make him suffer like this but idk what to do. I want him to stay as long as possible but i dont want him to suffer through this. Is putting him down the only option. I feel horrible that there is nothing i can do to help him. Im praying its not but i dont know what else it could be, anyone have any ideas?
