Will my build work?
I bought a 2011 giant rapid 3. 8x3 Shimano sora with quick fire brifters for about £60
The front derailleur shifter is completely buggered and the quickfire shifters are horrendously ugly to me so I'm going to attempt a 1x convert it for the simplicity of shifting, but also just because I want a project and I like the idea of customising a bike a bit
Parts list I've bought so far is a 130bcd 44 tooth 5 hole narrow wide chain ring, a Shimano 8 speed altus SL m315 shifter, short pull aluminium BMX levers (because it's a short pull road caliper), Shimano cs-hg31 8 speed, 11-32T, 8 speed kmc chain 114 links. New brake cables and shifter cable. Wanting to keep original derailleur. It's not clutched but I don't do extreme speeds or rough terrain, how likely is it to drop a chain and would all these parts likely work together?
