So I did my first ombré and I love it. I definitely should have kept going for more of an intense effect, as you have to look pretty hard to see the red, but I do really like how it turned out.

However, the liquid latex I used is a -1000000/10. 🤬 It was Beetles I got off Amazon and my fingers are red and angry. I don’t think it’s a reaction to the latex, as I have never had a latex allergy before. I think it’s just that Beetles is trash, I was t paying attention when I bought it, and I’ll never buy from them again.

First time poster and I’m begging you to be gentle with me, please.

I deal with anxiety and when I do, I pick at my thumbs horribly, specifically the proximal folds. It started to be all of my nails, but I was able to break that habit by religiously replacing it by using cuticle oil whenever I felt the urge to pick. (Homemade jojoba oil with whatever essential/skin safe fragrance oil suited my fancy) that worked a treat.

However, I have gone back to brutalizing my thumbs. Whenever I am stressed or anxious, my thumbs show it.

I am making progress, but I don’t know how to recover. The sidewalls are destroyed as you can see, and the skin gets so rough, it catches on everything, which makes me want to pick it or cut it or file it. The nail edges will also get rough and then I’m in the same boat.

How can I get my sidewalls back in order? And what about the horrible bend at the tip of my left thumb? Will that ever go away?

Is there any hope for recovery? Any and all advice or encouragement welcome.

Nails are totally naked right now, so no products to share. I’ll be putting some strengthened and polish on tonight.

When I first got Shalom three months ago, she was silent. When she came into the rescue, it was obvious that the breeder had kept her in a crate almost continually. My guess is that noise was discouraged at some level, because she didn’t make a peep about anything.

But over the last month or so, she’s started vocalizing, for food, of course. 🤣

It’s so awesome to see her feel safe enough and free enough to tell us all about it!
