I don’t look like my season, and that’s ok!

After being interested in this topic for years, I did an in-person analysis with someone trained in the True Colour International system.

I’m a dark autumn! Neutral-warm, dark, and moderately bright. It’s the season that I kept going back to, but then I would wonder if I am just biased towards dark colours and worry that my features aren’t dark enough to be a dark autumn. I have fair skin, hazel eyes, and medium brown hair that gets streaky and easily veers into dark blonde territory during the summer. Although I’ve seen a few medium brown and dark blonde examples of dark autumns, most of the pictures of people who have been typed or celebrities listed as possible DAs are people with dark brown to brown-black hair and often also dark brown eyes. But the drapes don’t lie! I may not look particularly dark, but it was obvious that I need depth in my clothing and makeup.

So, PSA to anyone who feels like you don’t fit the look of any season: don’t worry about it and focus on how your skin reacts to different temperatures, values, and chroma.

Is this cog-fog?

I used to be able to multitask well and while constant interruptions from family (young kids, but my husband also has a bad habit of this) were always a bit annoying, I was able to recover from it and get on with whatever I was doing. Now, I get very flustered when I have a person or multiple people talking to me or asking me for things while I am trying to do something. Sometimes I’ll just stand there for a moment trying to remember what I was doing. Sometimes the interruptions, especially if loud, actually feel physically painful because I am prone to headaches /migraines since being diagnosed.

Is this lack of an ability to multitask and recover from interruptions a part of cog-fog? I mostly read about cog-fog in relation to having trouble finding words (which I don’t notice much of), so I’m not sure if what I am describing can also be part of it.

Fatigue and Migraines

I’m writing this after a nap in my car to escape the noise of my family. I’ve had a cold, and the result has been feeling like I am operating on a messed up battery that dies out every afternoon. Coffee and modafinil are usually great, but they are no match for a mild cold. My body insists on shutting down every day. Trying to resist the shut down or being unable to go rest results in a migraine. My kids just want to be with me, and I am hiding from them. I feel terrible.

A while back, someone on this sub mentioned that light gray makes them very yellow, and I realized that it is the same for me. Dark gray is better, but still gives a yellow caste.

I believe the theory for warm colours is that it reflects yellow light onto the face and that effect either appears as a healthy golden quality or an unhealthy sallow quality. What is the theory for a cool, soft colour like gray resulting in a sallow appearance?
