If Harris had won in 2024, what wars do you think we would be involved in?

A common warning from conservatives in 2024 was that if Harris won, she would get the nation embroiled in wars.

If Harris had won, what wars or military interventions do you think we would be involved in right now?

If the United States takes military action against Cuba, what should the goal be?

If this administration decides to take military action against Cuba, what specifically should be our operational objective, and what conditions should we consider to be the fulfillment of our mission?

The US has the highest rate of measles in 35 years. What do you think is behind the rise of this preventable disease?

According to the CDC, there are 2,903 reported cases of measles so far in 2026. This is more than any year since 1991, and only seems to be rising.

Why do you think we're seeing this rise in measles, which has had a safe and effective vaccine for decades now?

Would you accept a deal where we got universal healthcare but being openly trans was outlawed?

Here's the deal: You get the ideal universal healthcare policy you want passed. In exchange, laws are also passed that effectively make it illegal to be openly trans in public... bathroom bans, sports bans, bans on legally changing your gender, medical transitioning being outlawed, maybe even up to 50s-style laws against presenting in public as another gender. You get the idea.

Would you accept this deal?

If you wouldn't accept the deal, is there a version with a softer anti-trans ban or better leftwing economic policy you would accept?

The first renaissance fair was created in 1963 by blacklisted leftists. The Society for Creative Anachronism was created in Berkeley in 1966 as a "protest against the 20th Century". What made medievalism so attractive as a form of counter-culture?

I was reading this article on the radical roots of the Southern California Renaissance Pleasure Fair. The Society of Creative Anachronism, one of the original and largest medieval recreation groups, was famously started in Berkeley and billed itself as a "protest against the 20th Century." It's interesting that two of the biggest medieval currents in the US both had counter-culture roots from the same time period. Was there a reason that medievalism was seen as a form of cultural protest or rebellion? Were any other living history groups started around the same time or for the same reasons?

What are your thoughts on the idea conservatives are "deeply submissive to authority figures?"

Something I've seen in various places online is the idea that "conservatives are inherently deeply submissive to authority figures". This is usually meant to include law enforcement officers, religious leaders, coaches, bosses at work, and the like.

What are your thoughts on this idea? What about it do you think is accurate or inaccurate?

(Obviously not all conservatives, etc, the quote is a generalization, not a description of every single person who identifies as conservatives.)

My proposed new flag of Australia

Here's my proposed new flag of Australia! The bottom red stripe represents Australia's red deserts. The middle stripe represents its white sand beaches. The top stripe represents the sky being turned red from wildfires.

I hope you all like it!

Do you think Lindsay Graham ACTUALLY died after "a brief and sudden illness"?

The official word on Graham is that he dies from "a brief and sudden illness." Am I the only one who thinks that's suspicious as hell? He was only 71, which isn't that old by Senate standards, with some of the best healthcare on the planet, and he just died from the mysterious brief and sudden dying disease? Am I the only one that doesn't buy it?

I'm not saying it was aliens or secret assassinations, but I wonder if he had some weird health issue that they hid from the voters. It would make sense.

What big ideas do liberals have on immigration?

Its clear that liberals can't ignore immigration as a "major issue", regardless of any facts on the ground. And we can't outflank the Right on immigration. Obama was the "deporter in chief" and Biden tried to pass a fairly strict law that Republicans killed rather than give him the win.

It seems to me that liberals need some sort of big "build the wall"-sized talking point on immigration...something to counterbalance Republican messaging and actually sell a competing vision to Americans... because right now our only message is that we can be Republican-Lite on the border.

So, what big ideas are out there?

Should Donald Trump start using GLP-1s?

Obesity is linked to all sorts of negative health effects, and Donald Trump is clearly, obviously obese. GLP-1 medications, such as Ozympic and Wegovy, are used to help people lose weight, and are considered one of the most effective ways, especially for people who have difficulty with other methods.

Since a healthy president is obviously in the nation's best interest, should Donald Trump start using GLP-1s?

How much is our current right-wing backlash driven by economic issues vs social issues?

If you're a regular contributor here, you probably understand that we're in the middle of a massive reactionary right-wing backlash that has taken over the Republican Party and driven it towards authoritarianism and illiberalism.

There seem to be two main lines of thinking on the cause of this backlash among rank-and-file voters: that it was caused by economic conditions, or that it was a reaction to social change.

How much do you weigh these two factors, or do you think some other factors entirely are responsible?

You're given $25 billion to build up a liberal media environment to compete with the Right. What do you spend that money on?

As is often discussed here, one of the Right's biggest strengths is how large and well funded their partisan media empire is, and how it dictates even how liberal media outlets cover stories.

Let's say that through some strange sequence of events, you are given control of $25 billion dollars. That's roughly twice Fox News' annual budget. You can spend this money in any way you want, as long as it directly helps build up or support liberal media. What would you do with the money?

What are your thoughts on the Stephen Jay Gould Quote: “I am, somehow, less interested in the weight and convolutions of Einstein’s brain than in the near certainty that people of equal talent have lived and died in cotton fields and sweatshops.”

Gould has always been one of my favorite scientists/educators, and a discussion I was having in another sub made me think of this quote. I know for me it underscores why I support a lot of the policy I do, but I was curious to see what other people think of the idea.

Why is Equality of Opportunity important to conservatives?

Sometimes I've often heard conservatives say is that they support equality of opportunity but not equality of outcome. Fair enough. Digging deeper so I can understand where conservatives are coming from, why is Equality of Opportunity an important value on its own for conservatives?
