The first renaissance fair was created in 1963 by blacklisted leftists. The Society for Creative Anachronism was created in Berkeley in 1966 as a "protest against the 20th Century". What made medievalism so attractive as a form of counter-culture?

I was reading this article on the radical roots of the Southern California Renaissance Pleasure Fair. The Society of Creative Anachronism, one of the original and largest medieval recreation groups, was famously started in Berkeley and billed itself as a "protest against the 20th Century." It's interesting that two of the biggest medieval currents in the US both had counter-culture roots from the same time period. Was there a reason that medievalism was seen as a form of cultural protest or rebellion? Were any other living history groups started around the same time or for the same reasons?

Moldy Peaches "Anyone Else But You" and the Konami Code still annoy me to this day

Yes, I know ,Moldy Peaches, "Anyone Else But You", is a twenty five year old song, but it still had a small studio in my head for free.

For anyone that hasn't heard the song: I included the lyrics and it's a song where two people are singing to each other about how they are great friends and love each other. In the middle of the song they use the Konami code: 👆,👆,👇,👇,👈,👉,👈,👉,B,A,Start. The Konami code is used in many Konami games, but Contra is the most famous in my opinion.

This is what frustrates me:

In Contra 👆,👆,👇,👇,👈,👉,👈,👉,B,A,Start is start with extra lives for the First player only.

HOWEVER: 👆,👆,👇,👇,👈,👉,👈,👉,B,A,SELECT, Start. Is extra lives for BOTH the First AND Second player.

It bothers me that they would go to the effort to include a game reference, but not get it right. Since the entire song is about them being a team and then including a version of the cheat where only one of them benefits.
