Hi all,

Huxley and Hiro turns THREE this month, and we are so grateful for the support we've received from the community. We do our best to pay it forward whenever we can by supporting and partnering with community organizations including many non-profits whenever we can. We also partner with lots of local artists, and we've received a lot of requests for more LOCALLY made and designed products.

So for our third anniversary, we hope you'll come join us at The Little Huxley (our gift shop in the DuPont Building) on Thursday from 7-9 for free drinks, food, a DJ, and great local artists. We'll be launching our new DEL·aware? merch line in collaboration with Other Industries, Noshooe, Create Magic, and Ghoul Crafts.

• Brand new stickers by Kacey Quillen (check out her new seasonal Happy Harry's sticker!)

Also joining us is Gabrielle Estel, who is partnering with us for literary trips, and DJ DUSTY FINGERS will be spinning records!

Plus, come meet our new social media coordinator Ulises (yes we tried to hire the most literary sounding applicant haha), and chat with our events manager Tim about things like renting the bookstore for highly affordable micro weddings, photo shoots, birthday parties, etc.

We also have an amazing event coming up Sunday with our favorite horror author Cassandra Khaw. (If you know our bookseller Eileen, she's probably already told you about her books!) We had to bribe her with cat-petting, so she will be sharing the spotlight with the bookstore Maine Coons The Original Huxley, Tolstoy the Bear, and Lews Therin Kinslayer. Sign up here.

Even if you can't join us this week, we hope you know how much we appreciate your support, your excitement about our local artists, your willingness to come out to shop local instead of ordering online, and your participation in our events year round. We are nothing without you!

Triangle Ecycling is offering free bulk old computer ewaste pickup for Louisville organizations (businesses, government offices, etc.) and processes everything through an R2-certified zero-landfill recycler. Comes with a serialized inventory and certificate of destruction, which matters if you have compliance requirements.

They also run a program that trains public school students in computer refurbishment and IT skills, and they donate 500+ refurbished computers a year to nonprofits and families. They're a nonprofit and direct 10% of proceeds to other nonprofits supporting education, families and the environment.

Request pickup via their web form or by phone and they try to respond within an hour.

There are cases where it becomes more of a low cost scenario, like 20 big ancient Cisco phones or something like this.

Old Town Horror is joining dark forces with @theatren_wilm to bring you The First Annual Wilmington All-Nite Horrorthon, a fiendish marathon screening of five secret horror films taking place at the Theatre N on Friday, October 23, with doors opening at 7:00pm and the first movie starting at 8.

And while we won’t be telling you what these movies are until their title card reveal, we can promise you tricks and treats from local vendors, refreshments from dusk until dawn, a midnight costume contest, and a few other surprises...
