Since everyone is talking about the four gods that were mentioned in Skypiea (Sun, Rain, Earth and Forest) I think the mural in Elbaf could be telling us who currently has the powers of the two we know the least about.
‘First World’ mentions that the Earth God enveloped the world in darkness and supposedly tried to destroy the world - sounds a lot like Blackbeard, who has darkness powers and has always been a force of chaos and destruction in the story. I can see the yami-yami no mi being another secret mythical zoan since A. It looks similar to the gomu-gomu no mi, and B. It’s different from all other logias as the only one that doesn’t make the user invulnerable to non-haki attacks.
As for the Forest God, ‘Second World’ mentions it “sent forth devils”, which is most likely referring to the Devil Fruits, implying the Forest God is the one who created them. Imu has THE Devil’s Fruit, which I take to mean the original devil fruit.
I’ve heard theories about Chopper or Green Bull being the Forest God but I disagree with both. While there seems to be more to Chopper’s powers than meets the eye, one crew having two gods on it seems way too contrived. As for Green Bull, there’s no way a bum like him has such an important power.
Narratively, it makes sense that the four gods are connected to the four most important living characters to the overall plot:
Sun God = Luffy (already confirmed as the user, destined to liberate the world)
Rain God = most likely Dragon (world’s most dangerous man with the power most feared by the Celestial Dragons)
Earth God = Blackbeard (destruction incarnate with ambitions to rule and / or destroy the world)
Forest God = Imu (rules over the world with the original devil fruit)
TLDR: I won’t speculate on what went down in the First and Second Eras of the world, but I strongly believe the four gods mentioned in Skypiea have all been incarnated into devil fruits, and two of them are owned by the two main antagonists.

I feel like in most films with a truly great villain they end up stealing the show and overshadow the protagonist (The Dark Knight, Training Day, Gangs of New York, etc.), it’s actually a pretty rare thing when the hero and villain are both compelling enough that one doesn’t fully outshine the other.
Two examples I could think of were Neil vs Vincent in Heat and Kelson vs Jimmy in 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple
