Favorite Underrated TV Shows??

What are some of the best hidden gems? You LOVED but nobody ever talks about...

For me, The Last Man On Earth with Will Forte (actually my all time favorite show) and Love on Netflix. Love is damn near a masterpiece but I've never had a conversation with anybody that's ever seen it.

Anyways, I feel like I've watched all of TV at this point. What have I missed out on?

Edit: Thanks all for all of the suggestions so far! I'm housesitting for a couple of weeks starting in about a week and they have all of the streaming services there, so this is where I get to catch up on the Hulu and HBO shows since I don't have those streamers anymore. First up is finishing Sunny Nights that I started a few months ago while housesitting there, then the last season of The Bear, Pen 15 (thanks for the reminder on that one here!) and now the one that has gotten by far the most suggestions here... Mr. Inbetween!

Did want to mention one more sleeper that I absolutely loved - did anybody ever watch The Black Donnellys on NBC? Jonathan Tucker, Olivia Wilde, Smalls from the Sandlot as a heroin addict... it had it all! LOVED that show but we heartbreakingly never got a second season.

An underrated horror kdrama"Strangers from Hell"

Just finished Strangers from Hell, and wow, this show genuinely got under my skin.

I loved how it relied on the atmosphere and psychological tension instead of cheap jump scares. The whole setting felt so unsettling that I was uncomfortable almost every episode.

If you're into slow-burn psychological horror that leaves you feeling uneasy long after it's over, I'd definitely recommend it.

Cross (2024-) What a waste so far!

It seems like a simple proposition: adapt the classic James Patterson novels, already tried and tested material, into a modern setting. Reacher follows this formula, rather successfully, and there are plenty of Cross books that have not been adapted yet. Instead, we get brand new cases, that mind bogglingly lack any mystery, as the identity of the killers so carefully guarded in the books are revealed almost immediately, and there are no plot twists or cliffhangers to speak of. Despite that I think the show is well cast and Aldis Hodge is genuinely the most accurate adaptation of the character we have had so far. Still, it gets worse and worse, with the family dynamic being even further reduced in this season (Nana Mama in only two episodes?!) and the Kyla Craig ‘Mastermind’ storyline seemingly being botched.

I don’t even know anyone who watches this show, but what’s the general consensus? Are people actually into this? Is there any indication things will change?

Currently on S1E6 of Silo... When does it start getting good?

Damn, if this isn't a step down coming from Severance and Widow's Bay. Those two shows prompted my Apple TV binge, and while I'm not expecting every show to be as outstanding, the ratings of this show would imply that it's of a similar calibre. So far it's pretty dull...

Is this a case in which the conceptual basis of the show is better than the actual execution?

I'll continue watching, but I'm curious as to what people think. Especially given that the best TV shows will hook you within a few episodes. Is it just a slow burn?

What would my friends kids like?

I have Netflix and Disney Plus. I’ve recently moved in with my friend and his kids. They only have Network television, so I’d thought I’d introduce them to Netflix and Disney Plus. I have ideas for shows he’d like, but I don’t know what his kids would like.

His son is a seven-year-old elementary school student. His favorite shows are Wild Kratts, and Cyberchase. His favorite hobby is playing pretend adventure games, and he also really likes playing basketball.

The younger daughter is a fourteen-year-old homemaker. Her favorite show is Call the Midwife. She also really likes All Creatures Great and Small, and The Waltons. Her favorite hobbies are playing pretend games with her brother, and playing card games.

The son and the younger daughter are very close, probably because he's often in her care while the dad's at work. They both really like Nature, Molly of Denalli, Arthur, Carl the Collector, and Leave It to Beaver.

The older daughter says she doesn't need any suggestions because she has seen some paid tv at her friends houses, and they gave her some suggestions for other shows she might like.

What’s a show you’ve seen a dozen times, but you still keep finding small details you completely missed before?

I’ve rewatched Breaking Bad way more times than I’d like to admit, and I still just caught a throwaway line in Season 2 that completely changes how I look at the finale. It’s like the show has an extra layer I keep walking past without noticing.

I’m curious, what’s the show that rewards you the most for paying attention? I love that feeling of finding a hidden layer in a show I thought I knew inside and out.

Are there any shows you've seen a million times where you're still discovering new things, or have you finally solved your favorite series?

What characters were 32 at the beginning of their show ?

So I'm turning 32 in few days and as I'm reflecting on my life and whatnot, I'm thinking about these characters who were 32 at the beginning of the show.

I'm thinking about Lorelei in Gilmore Girls or Carrie in Sex and The City. Both very different from each other, and from myself as well lol.

So yeah, tv show lovers, any other character who was 32 when their show started ?

It'd be fun to know

Larry David new show “Life, Larry and the Pursuit of Unhappiness” opinion

To all my fellow Curb your Enthusiasm/ Seinfeld fans, what do you think of Larry David’s new show? Do you think Larry himself is a good actor? Should he have continued Curb even after the finale? Might he ever bring it back? Were you hoping his untitled new project would have been something different? Will you be checking this new title out and hoping for the best?

In Need of a Show like The Rookie

I watched shameful amounts of shows in my life due to WFH, but I am addicted to this one.

- Funny, but somewhat gore and full of action

- True Crime episodes - no words

- Loyalty and friendship stretching outside of the police station

- Amazing, relatable characters.

- "Monster of the Week" ish, but still episodes are connected

- You can learn alot

Please give me your recommendations. Prefferably for it to be:

- Lots of episodes within a seasons, 40+ minutes

- Either on Netflix or HBO.

Thank you all!
