Is anyone going to the fair?

Just curious. I was looking at the prices even to get in the door and it just isn’t possible for my family this year. Wondering if anyone else is feeling the same.

Baby shower help

A dear friend’s daughter is 7-8 months along and we’re just learning of the pregnancy. My friend is hosting a drop in baby shower. The mom to be has only one friend and she isn’t in a position to help. I offered to help and am looking for ideas.

My friend would like the decor to be things that are useful for the baby as much as possible. My only thought was to hang some swaths of twine and put clothespins and as mom to be receives clothes we hang them. I also thought it would be cute to hang baby pictures of mom to be on the twine.

We have a great place to host. It’s a little small but drop in style will help. We have space for one 6’ table for food and one 6’ for activities. There are seats all around the room and as you come into the space is a divided area. In this spot we have a cute oversized chair we plan to put mom to be and let her take a instax with her guests. We’ll have wishes and advice cards and let them fill them out and glue it next to their photo before they leave so if they want to add anything else they can. This entry area has a lot of plants and greenery.

The baby’s name will be Opal so I’d love to have play into that too but I’m coming up blank! Well other than color scheme but maybe that’s enough?

For food we’re thinking Rice Krispie treats, Chex mix with pink m&ms, cookies wrapped in diapers, veggie tray, and fruit tray. We might make more if time allows. (We don’t want to over plan and run out of time.) we’ll have two drink dispensers:ice water and lemonade.

We love the concept of a decorate a onsie but I did that for another friend’s shower and her baby was too big to use any of them. So I’ve seen some coloring pages for letters and numbers and everyone colors one. That’s super cute and the write a message for late night diapers but I also worry about sizing on that.

Is this good enough? Any thing more I should add so guests feel welcome and appreciated? Any recommendations for better food or games or decor?

I also want mom to be to know that she is loved and supported even on short notice so she knows she isn’t alone. It has been a really rough year for her and she is scared as she’s entering into this next phase of her life.
