Foot keeps going numb

Okay, so this is gonna be a weird one. Started running about 2 months ago, added distance, worked hard, ran 3-4 days a week every week. Got new shoes which ive loved having. Anyways, bout a month in my left foot starts going numb on runs. Like painfully numb. Not every run, and usually not until im a mile or so in, but it keeps happening. It doesn't seem tied to distance, what socks im wearing or anything like that. ive had 100% perfect 5 milers where it doesn't hurt at all. Ran my first 5k today, and did it sub 30 :) and around mile 1.5 the whole foot went completely painfully numb and definitely wasn't pleasant. this is the worst yet, and as i want to keep running i was hoping for some advice.

First 5k, killed it

Some of you may remember my 5 mile run post from earlier this week, but I had my first 5k this morning, was aiming to run sub 35 and just have a good time. Instead got 28:28 which was unbelievable! I feel so amazing and badass and happy!!!

Its not a lot, but two months ago running a mile was really hard

Started running as a suprise for my partner, who is an ultramarathoner. We spend lots of time doing my activities like climbing and mountaineering, but not as much doing things they love so i wanted to change that. Two months ago I struggled with running a mile, and knew nothing about things like shoes, pacing or anything. Today I went for my long run, and ended up pushing past what I honestly ever thought I could possibly do at a pace like that. I have my first 5k on Saturday and im honestly really really happy :)

Male ego around bolting driving me nuts

Ive been watching the coverage and discussion around snake dike, and just the general bolting ethics of late and its exhausting. As a developer and trad climber myself, I cannot see any reason why people trying to improve the safety of routes is problematic when reasonably done. Do I think Sloan added too many bolts? Yah probably. But i've also done that route, back in 2022 as a newer climber with an experienced partner and the runout made me very uncomfortable, even now with 4 years of climbing, mountaineering and rope rescue more, I'm not entirely sure if I'd want to lead the whole of it if I got the chance.

The discussion around it though, it reeks of an old boys club, and fragile male egos and it really does make me frustrated. Can climbing just be about getting out there, having fun, pushing yourself physically and mentally and staying at least sorta safe?

Anyways, just frustrated that climbing which should bring us togather, instead seems to bring out the worst in some of these people.

edit: The pathetic homophobic man who commented below is just another another example of this...

Help, I can't find the clit

This is gonna sound a bit bonkers. Me and a partner (NB) have been working through their trauma for the past half year and we've finally gotten to the point where i'm putting fingers downstairs. The problem is I can't seem to find the clit consistently. Like a I can for a few motions and they go wild, but then I lose it and have to go hunting. It almost feels like it... moves around? They are equally confused about their anatomy and haven't really even done much exploring down there themself due to trauma. Ive looked for it, ive felt for it, ive tried a lot, and im just not consistantly able to find it???? I want to go down on them, but I feel like I need to solve this problem first. I've yet to have this problem before with prior partners with that anatomy... advice or help from any clit havers is much appreciated and welcomed 🙏🙏🙏. i love this human being more than anything and want to give them the best time possible!

notes: usually in a well lit area, we both are very much not night owls so we tend to be asleep by dark lol.

Hey friends, im getting ready for the 2026 mountaineering season, and id love some advice on improving my sleep system for alpine climbing/mountaineering. This years goals, starting in june include a few peaks like Adam's, Baker and middle/north sister, as well as some overnight alpine climbing trips throughout the PNW. Potentially Rainier as well.

My sleep system right now is a big Agnes iron springs pad, with either a REI 30f bag thats frankly cold cold cold no matter the overnight lows. It can be 50 outside and ill have a down jacket and sweats on and still freeze in it. Alternatively I have a GIANT, heavy -20f bag from north face made in 2005. Shes great for car camping, but miserable in a pack. Tent wise, just for context I have an REI half dome sl 2+. I want to upgrade/improve my system and welcome advice. I realistically cannot afford to spend a huge amount of money, Im an emt and don't make a lot to spare so no 700$ sleeping bags recommendations please🙏. Im always happy to buy used or keep a lookout for middle point bags at my local used gear store or my REI resupply (where I got my pad and tent :)
