Brad on The Death, Taxes & Bananas Podcast

Brad was a guest on Johnny ("Bananas") podcast. They spoke about his time on Season 42: Cutthroat. Full transparency, I covered this episode because I have a soft spot for Brad. His Real World season was iconic! That word gets used too much now, but I do believe its accurate when it comes to the cast of The Real World: San Diego 2004. If you are familiar with my posts, they only include some highlights. For all the tea, listen to the full podcast.

Some Highlights:

  • Bananas opens by introducing his new "I Am The Challenge" t-shirt. He jokes that it will piss of cast members & fans, and may lead to another cease & desist notice
  • Brad admits that it was very difficult to watch the episode because it is the earliest he has ever been eliminated from a season
  • They both say that the Season 41 & 42 rookies are the most athletic rookies that the show has ever had. Bananas adds that they aligned with each other instead of with the Vets, unlike rookies from previous seasons
  • They both say that the teams formed on Season 20: Cutthroat were a lot more evenly matched
  • They both agree that Cedric lost his elimination because he panicked, which affected his accuracy. Also, the lack of experience played a part in how the elimination was viewed
  • Bananas says that Nelson's comments on Cory's relationship with Taylor gave production soundbites to paint Cory in a negative light. Brad says that he wouldn't have gotten involved
  • Bananas says that majority of the women initially did not like Lete because they were scared of her but couldn't admit it. Lete exfoliating in the pool gave them a reason to express the dislike
  • Brad says that before the heights daily he was convinced that Blue Team was going to DQ because Cara Maria kept saying that she would not participate. He explains that this heights daily felt different than previous ones because of the blindfold and trap door
  • Bananas admits that the heights challenge was terrifying, but believes that Cara Maria was intentionally complaining so that production wouldn't make her do it
  • Brad explains that Nelson was yelling at the women on Blue Team when they DQ'd during the heights daily, so he felt the need to intervene. Brad says that he apologized later on
  • They both believe that Adrienne overreacted with Josh & Nurys. Bananas adds that being social in the house and talking to everyone is apart of the game
  • Brad explains that Nurys was upset about the rumors regarding her, Adrienne & Josh because she was still communicating with Horacio. She did not want to do anything that would negatively affect their situation
  • The "Season 41 Strong" alliance consisted of Sydney, Justin, Leo, Will and Adrienne. Bananas believes that this alliance was created by Sydney to protect herself, and explains that CT was trying to appease that alliance by initially wanting to make Will captain instead of him
  • Bananas put Brad in the elimination against Keanu because he felt bad putting Nelson in that elimination. He acknowledges the contradiction as he did not extend the same grace to Jordan during Season 35: Total Madness when he put Jordan against Fessy in a pole wrestle
  • Brad says that he knew Bananas was not going to throw Nelson into that elimination. But, he didn't know how close Bananas was with Josh so he initially thought he could still be saved
  • Brad explains that he was sick the day before the elimination. His interview was rescheduled and he had to see a medic. But, he still tried really hard in the elimination
  • They both believe that Brad did have a chance to win the elimination. However, neither expected Keanu to get as physical as he did. At one point, production had to stop the elimination to repair the wall because it was damaged due to how physical it got
  • Brad explains that he apologized to the Blue Team after losing because he felt like he let them down. He thinks that its hard to win daily challenges when you have less people on the team
