why does everyone nowadays treat loneliness as a personal/moral failing
“you need to love/focus on yourself in order to love others” “your lack of purpose is why you experience longing” like i don’t know if they know this but humans are a social species and it’s completely fine and normal to yearn for companionship and vague platitudes do nothing to sate loneliness like jfc why is everyone so schizoid-brained nowadays
sinusitis/allergies and relationships
how has sinusitis affected your romantic relationships? earlier this year i was dating a guy and i stayed with him for two weeks and a week after he broke up with me (citing that “he’s not in the right headspace for a relationship”) and i’m not convinced that my sinus issues and allergies didn’t play a part :’) i was constantly clearing my throat in the mornings (although i did it in the bathroom the walls in his apartment were rather thin) and frequently blowing my nose (my insurance didn’t cover my allergy medicine and his roommates had a cat and i’m allergic to animal danser) and i can’t help but think he was grossed out by it
Any other women in smaller/more rural communities having trouble dating?
I (24F) have always been extremely unlucky in love, with my last (and only) relationship only lasting for a measly 3 months. I have no trouble with securing dates or casual sex, but serious, long-term relationships are another story.
Currently, I still live at home with my family due in a relatively smaller area in my country due to being unemployed for the last year and a half. My two younger brothers are both in successful, long-term relationships and they both seem pretty content. One couple being two high-school sweethearts and the other… Well, let’s just say they deserve each other, and neither of them are exact prizes.
After my ex dumped me, I decided to go back on the apps. I’m a relatively good looking woman, I’m in good shape, I dress nice, I wear makeup, I have a nice personality (or at least I like to think so), I have interests and hobbies, meanwhile the men leave… Much to be desired. Many of them appear overweight (I live in the most obese area in my country), look older than they actually are (due to the drinking culture, how widespread smoking is, poor local diet), and personal grooming seems to be a lost art to them. The dating pool is also pretty small, as I have ran out of swipes within the same day of opening a profile. Basically, I am metaphorically shifting for crumbs at the bottom of the chip bag.
It’s one of the many reasons why I want to move out, tbh. I seriously doubt I’m going to meet the love of my life here, and I’d rather die alone than to settle for a man that I’m not attracted to. Anyone else in the same boat?
embarrassed over how i acted in the aftermath of the breakup
he broke up with me on good terms and wanted to be friends still but apparently that wasn’t enough for me and i quickly became distant and passive aggressive and overbearing and overall just not a pleasant person to be around. i came to the conclusion that i needed to go no-contact for his sanity and mine but i was just a mess mentally and emotionally and kept blocking him and unblocking because i was incapable of drawing boundaries with myself. fast forward to this month he’s blocked me on everything because he before that he blocked me on instagram and i broke down and called him and texted him everywhere else until he told me to “leave him alone” because “my obsessive behaviour is freaking him out.” i’m currently in therapy because of this (and to address my past abandonment trauma that led up to this moment) and switched my meds and learning how to cope in case anything like this ever happens again but i’m just embarrassed i’ve never done anything like that sooner.

has anyone here had to reel in their drinking?
after a less-than-ideal situation happening over the weekend that was indirectly caused by my drinking i’ve been re-evaluating my relationship with alcohol. i’m not a big fan of how it drains my bank account i tend to act embarrassing/cringe when i’m drunk, i make risky decisions, i know it’s bad for me in the long run, i put myself in danger when i’m drinking, etc etc. but i also like how alcohol brings me out of my shell. i like how it makes me more sociable and how less tense it makes and how i can take risks more comfortably when i’m drunk.
i’m not a “problematic” alcoholic. most/half of my paycheck doesn’t go into drinking, and i don’t drink often (only once/twice a month). i just don’t know how to control myself when i’m drinking, and i tend fo drink too much too quickly. most (if not all) of my social groups tend to hang around in bars/pubs/concerts/festivals so it’s pretty hard to avoid alcohol there too haha.
sorry for the longwinded rant lol i wasn’t expecting this post to get so long but i’m just curious on others’ experiences and what they have to offer and say 🕵️♀️
