Four human dads who make indie rock in a basement in Charlottesville, VA

We had a show last night, it was sweaty, loud, and fun, and it reminded me of just how awesome it is to make music, and share it with others.

So here we are!

Free Pony - Bandcamp, Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube music, etc

Not your band, but your practice space.

Let’s see it. Here’s our drummer’s basement in Charlottesville, VA.

Free Pony (the band, the photos)

Four dads from Charlottesville, VA who make melodic post punk in a basement (and, increasingly, live - reach out if you wanna play and are in the area).

I posted a polaroid selfie I took of us earlier today, but it'd be a shame not to share some of these excellent digital photos that our friend and photographer Kristen Finn took.

Analog Band Photos

We’ve done a few (very few) photo shoots. But I just particularly like these two selfies we got with my very long arm and a Polaroid camera.

We’re Free Pony - a post punk band from Charlottesville, VA.

I made a poster for a local rock show and think it looks neat

If you’re in the Charlottesville, VA area on the 3rd of July, boy do I have some fun news for you…

Still working on the lyrics for the first half of the bridge, the title, and probably some other things as we keep workshopping this one. Our guitarist brought this riff to the group a few weeks ago and we’ve all just been adding parts.

This doesn’t sound too much like other stuff posted here, and I’m not sure if anyone can actually hear what’s happening in the recording due to the obviously completely whack levels and blown out phone mic (it’s loud in the drummer’s basement where we practice…). But this is the most explicitly political song we’ve written, and even then, I guess it isn’t super straight forward, but maybe still gets the feeling across?

Curious if this reaches any ears in the community and folks have any feedback!
