Still missing the Starbucks at B&N.
Just saw the thread about developmental editors and thought I'd ask the question specifically about children's books.
What has your experience been with dev editing? Did you use Reedsy? Was the ROI worth it? And if it's not a secret how much did it cost you?
Why no Broadway musical shows in Vegas anymore? We really liked the Jersey Boys, Mama Mia, Rock of Ages.. - but the only one remaining is the Menopause - and we've seen it twice already.
We are running Amazon Ads and see 30% ACOS, while it is pretty low, it still isn't making revenue (our margin per book is around 20%), and we haven't created any series for a good read through.
Anything else we've tried didn't get anywhere close to this. Maybe we didn't do them right, but this is the list of things that didn't work for our children's picture books:
* Meta Ads (Pictures, Videos, carousel ads on both FB and Instagram) - tried various things over multiple months, spent > 700$ and sold single digits books
* Pinterest Ads - few hundred dollars on multiple formats too - no results
* Reddit Ads - few hundred dollars, but again no sales
* Allauthors promos - they featured our ebook for a few months for 75$ - no return
* Bookbub ads - tried multiple approaches, but no matter the price, discount or banner type - no traction (we simply tend to believe that children picture eBooks are in very little demand.)
* Google Ads - that was the worst, the most expensive and zero results.
* Tiktok - slides/videos/reels - posting regularly for months didn't move the needle in any significant way.
We tried all of the above for an extended period of time, with a gradual ramp and patience, but had to give up since the money was simply going into black hole.
Would love to learn of anyone else's success on any other platforms.
