The installation is a bit questionable from a physical standpoint, since the Edge Sharpener Revision C slightly overlaps with the other board underneath. However, the two PCBs do not interfere with each other in any problematic way.

The difference in image quality is definitely noticeable, so the Edge Sharpener actually does what it is supposed to do, while everything else continues to function as expected.

Region switching between 50Hz and 60Hz works properly, the console now has a clean C-Sync signal, and all the other nice little features of the AIO mod are working as well.

Overall, I’m very satisfied with the result. The setup is still in the testing phase, but so far everything appears to be working exactly as intended.

Sega Neptune

I’ve now finished preparing the decals (stickers/labels) for the Sega Neptune case, and the Sega Neptune build is officially complete.
It’s been a long process, but everything is now assembled and finished as intended.

Final Fantasy Collection

This is my small Final Fantasy collection — and these photos definitely don’t show everything. I’m currently trying to reorganize a bit, so please excuse the mess. But I think this gives a pretty good impression of what I’ve accumulated over the years.

Sega Master System - faulty 7805 voltage regulator

I recently repaired a Sega Master System 1 that would no longer power on correctly. After some troubleshooting, I found that the 7805 voltage regulator had failed.

I replaced it with a compatible regulator, and now the console works perfectly again. Always satisfying to bring old hardware back to life!

The Master System 1 is such a nice piece of Sega hardware, and I’m really happy this one is running again instead of ending up as parts.

Sega Saturn full recap

After the F-RAM and BIOS mod on this Sega Saturn, I’ve now replaced all the capacitors as well, and I’m quite happy with the result.

The capacitors have been removed and replaced with new ones. The original BIOS has been replaced with a socket and fitted with a current v3 version. The FRAM (FM18W08-SG, 256KB) is connected to the CPU and is correctly recognized with the proper size.

I’m almost finished populating the Open SFC board. The donor is an old SHVC-CPU-01 motherboard.
All ICs and sockets remain original; only the capacitors are being replaced.

Revived a dead Japanese Mega CD 1 (837-8015-01) by rebuilding it on a Cosam Retroboard v1.2. Fully populated the board and added a RAMtron F-RAM mod along with the Sega CD FRAM BIOS (32K, region-free, v3 RC4).

The original power board was in rough shape due to leaking caps, so I completely disassembled and cleaned it, followed by a full recap across the system, including the CD-ROM board.

Happy to say everything is now working perfectly again — even the CD drive feels like new. Definitely got a bit lucky with the laser on this one.
