It had been sitting in a box for more than 30 years since my grandfather passed. Local watch shop uncle gave it a service and it runs like a charm. Apparently it is a 1981 make, so it is 45 years old!

I got this watch thinking it would be perfect for me, which it almost is.
But it sits a little too large on my wrist, and I am really finicky about it.
It is brand new, never used, in fact delivered just a couple of hours back. I just unboxed it. I have the box, warranty card, manual, everything.
The watch looks great (stunning, actually) and is high-quality as all the reviews say, but unfortunately the fit on my particular wrist shape and size is not just as I expected. So I have decided to sell it brand new.
This is the "sterile" / no-logo version (meaning: it is the version without any logo on it).
It cost me Rs.7162.
I am taking a 30% hit for unboxing it and giving it for 70% of the price, which is just about Rs.5000.

I have been mostly into quartz so far. Briefly owned an automatic but sold it as I didn't like it (sat too large on my wrist).
I've been chatting with my best friend Ms.GPT. She tells me that owning a mechanical watch, whether it is automatic or manual, comes with servicing costs every X years. Opinion is divided on the interwebs about once in how many years that should be.
Ms.GPT also told me something that I found alarming. Apparently, "servicing" means taking all of the parts apart, then, well, servicing them, and putting them back together. This happen every time? Geez. I thought it would be more like servicing a bike, like cleaning and topping up lubricants. (Sorry, I am not an engg student, have very little knowledge of these things).
My elderly relative has an old HMT that needs servicing, and I took it to a watch shop to ask. The guy told me that it will cost Rs.3K to fully service and it will take a month. Is that normal?
Obviously, I assume the cost will vary a lot between say a manual winding HMT and an automatic Tissot. Like servicing a TVS and servicing a Ducati. But still, having said that, in general I am curious: how much are you spending for service for which watch, how long do you leave the watch with the service shop, and once in how many years?
