I have never heard of this before. Does anyone know why they became adversaries?

Before Ann Marie and Mary Richards there was Sally Rogers

Not totally sure what the appropriate “flair” would be… I’m thinking “Discussion” but alas, I didn’t see that as an option.

That said… we’re all familiar with the ground-breaking leading ladies from That Girl (Ann Marie), Julia (Julia Baker), Mary Tyler Moore (Mary Richards,) but something I’ve realized is before these single working ladies, there was Sally Rogers from The Dick Van Dyke Show.

Are there any other supporting female leads who were portrayed as single working women pre-1960s?

*edit to add, Julia Baker from Julia portrayed by the amazing Diahann Carroll! Unfortunately, I can’t fix the title though!

Decisions, decisions: 830 or 930?

I’m sure this question has been asked many times… but I am looking to purchase either the 830 or the 930. It seems the 830 is quite a unicorn machine, especially if it can be found with the red case and accessories, but the 930 seems to have been a bit more of a robust machine with a wide range of stitch options and a more powerful motor.

Which machine, if you had the option to purchase either/or, would you opt for? And why?

Melissa Gilbert Reveals She’s Not Returning to Hallmark’s When Calls the Heart Due to ‘Budget Issues’

Melissa Gilbert will not be returning to Hope Valley anytime soon.
On Thursday, July 16, she revealed in an Instagram post that she will not appear in the upcoming season of Hallmark’s When Calls the Heart.
“Many people have asked if I will be returning to When Calls the Heart this coming season. The answer to that is no I will not,” Gilbert wrote. “I am told this is due to ‘budget issues.’ That said, I wish all my sweet friends in Hope Valley a wonderful and successful season 14.”
In the caption, Gilbert, 62, said her time on the series was “lovely,” but “it’s time to say farewell.” She also thanked her “dear friend,” Michael Landon Jr., an executive producer on the series, for “giving me the chance to bring Georgie McGill to life.

The producer’s father, Michael Landon, played the beloved Pa (Charles Ingalls) on Little House on the Prairie, alongside Gilbert as Laura Ingalls Wilder*,* from 1974 to 1983.
“When one door closes, another one opens,” Gilbert concluded the post. “Looking forward to whatever comes next.”
Hallmark Channel said in a statement, “We can confirm that Melissa’s storyline on When Calls the Heart concluded in season 13. We adore Melissa and are always grateful when we get to work with her.”
Gilbert made her debut in When Calls the Heartin season 12. She appeared in seven episodes through season 13 as a guest star.
Her character, Georgie, struck up a romance with Jack Wagner’s Judge Bill Avery. He told Entertainment Weekly that it was “awesome” working with Gilbert on the show.
“[Our characters] have a backstory and a history, and I kissed her in the final episode last year. So that sprung a whole well of romance for my character,” Wagner said

Gilbert’s exit from the Hallmark series comes amid her husband Timothy Busfield’s ongoing legal trouble.
The actor, 69, turned himself into authorities in Arizona in January after an arrest warrant was issued for him on child sex abuse charges. He was indicted by a Bernalillo County grand juryon four counts of criminal sexual contact of a minor (child under 13) in February. All four charges are third-degree felonies and pertain to events in October 2022 and September 2023, according to court documents.

He pleaded not guilty to all four counts on Feb. 10, per a plea entry filed in New Mexico’s Second Judicial District Court. On Feb. 11, he waived his arraignment and appearances in court for all pretrial proceedings, and Judge Joseph Montano granted the request on Feb. 18.
Busfield’s trial is scheduled to begin in May 2027, his criminal defense attorney Amber Fayerberg confirmed to PEOPLE in March.

Bernina Walking Foot for 930 and 950

Hi, all. I have a Bernina 950 industrial and a 930. I’m looking to purchase an old style walking foot to use with both machines. Does anyone have recommendations for purchasing a recreated walking foot or a genuine vintage one made by Bernina? What would you recommend? If a recreation, what vendors would you recommend based on experience? It looks like there may be concerns with calibration of using one made as of late versus a genuine one. TIA.

First time dehydrating! 🍌 🍉

Toyed with the idea of dehydrating for a while now! And so, when I saw the Excalibur 10 Tray Performance was on sale for $240 (!!!) seemed the perfect time to get started!

First up was watermelon and bananas!! Took approximately 28 hours total with the dehydrator set at 140F. I started everything on parchment paper, then as things began drying and became less sticky, I transplanted them to the steel mesh trays.

I cut everything by hand. Watermelon was between 1/4-1/2 inch (went with a thicker cut) and the bananas as close to 1/8 as I could get it. Watermelon jerky is between crispy and chewy (both textures are perfect to me)… and bananas chips are crispy with minimal residual stickiness when chewing from the natural sugar as expected! Both are amazing!

I opted not to add any flavoring, savory or sweet, and also opted out of adding lemon juice to the bananas.

Overall I’m thoroughly impressed! My only regret is two of the trays were empty… next time I’ll be sure to fill everything as to take advantage of the energy and time being used!

Alrighty… what other fruits make the perfect snack absent apples (which is up next!) and fruit leather (also up next!)???

I never would’ve thought about watermelon, so… any other amazing fruit suggestions? Or veggie suggestions?

For now, I’m more interested in snack options versus rehydrating foods for future meals, so please send your favorite dehydrated (vegan) snack suggestions my way!

**edit** to add: looking for vegan snack options!

Help organizing a transfer from checking to an investment account within Actual Budget.

I move money between accounts, of note a monthly transfer from a checking account to a Roth IRA account.

I have the Roth IRA listed in off budget, but the checking in on budget. I created a transfer of the two, set the category for the checking account, but it now shows up as a negative transaction/appears within my budget view.

Is there a way to zero this out within the budget view? So it doesn't show as an income and/or as a negative transaction, since the money is present, but not for spending?
