Don't hesitate to lie in that interview!

I started lying in my interviews and resume and landed a job in two weeks.

Here are the tips that helped me and I cannot emphasis on how much these helped me:

I was almost never completely honest in my interviews but rather presented myself strategically. Didn’t reveal my exact previous salary because I wanted better pay, and never told them I left due to a toxic workplace or bad boss. I avoided speaking negatively about past employers altogether, and made my future plans sound aligned with the company, even if they’re not. Most importantly, I never downplayed my contributions- spoke with confidence and positioned myself as someone who adds value. Made my CV and answers function like a pitch.

A great resume that properly explains who you are and what you can bring to their company will open so many doors for you you would be shocked. I changed my role to that of a higher position in my resume a lot of times because I could do all that work, just didn't have the experience. If you don’t know how to make your resume great, it might be a bigger ROI to use those free tools that are fast and effective and can create resumes that cater to each type of role you apply for.

I’ve never liked LinkedIn, I used it very rarely. For me personally it’s massively overrated, and if you’re genuinely looking for a job on LinkedIn you might consider switching sites. If the company posts a job on their website before LinkedIn, apply there first. As I stated, LinkedIn is horrible for job searching. Of course you can get lucky, but the keyword is lucky. Company sites always have fewer applicants. LinkedIn gets flooded fast. I always applied directly through company sites and could do it faster because I was notified every time a company posts vacancy.

I am also sharing the list of platforms/apps I used to apply through instead of linkedin and tools that helped me find job listings as soon as they're uploaded.

Why are people still compiling their complete life history in their resume???

I am not here to criticize or advice anyone but this is something that I have seen a lot and am quite surprised because wasn't this relevant long time back and not anymore. Nobody is reading what debate I won in school or what exhibition I participated in. Recruiters demand skills and that's the part we're less focusing on for some reason.

I expect this mistake to be done by new comers and freshers because they're just starting out but people with considerable work experience and knowledge of their field doing this gives me the ick. Is filling your resume with every random achievement still a thing and I'm just completely unaware of it?

I want some good recommendations for my niece

My niece wants to earn some extra cash. I think she wants to buy something for her parents. I'm not much aware of how this whole thing works so if you guys have any good recommendations, please tell me. Don't suggest anything illegal.

She is fluent in quite a few languages so if anything even remotely related to that is there, it would be perfect. Other suggestions are also welcome. Thank you in advance.

Just why?

I mean why would you want to type everything out separately when I'm giving you a perfectly curated according to the role resume?? You want to waste time of yours as well as mine? Is it already not enough that I'm giving the resume so much time to tweak it, and learn everything about the role and the company?

What is the truth behind keeping onion to keep you cool in this heat????

I just saw this on the news that during a heatwave, people in India kept onion in their pockets to keep themselves cool and protect from heatwave. Apparently, they also consume onion more than usual for the same reason which is understandable but just keeping it with you?? Does it really help in any way or just stupid myth followed by people?

Came across this post yesterday. This woman recently found out that her husband is having an affair and is actually planning on divorcing her soon. They met through work and ended up getting married after 4 years of being together and the reason was that she got pregnant. She accepted they were not fully in love but still went ahead and got married. That was a stupid stupid decision in my opinion.

Her whole story doesn't seem right to me. I mean why would you marry somebody you're not sure of being in love with and then kind of put an obligation of the baby to on your partner to get married? I'm not justifying the man cheating on her but it's just a thought that crossed my mind when I read her post. It was pretty obvious from the beginning that their relationship is not fulfilling/satisfactory for either given the fact that they were not really in love.

He even made her sit at home to take care of the baby while he was out there, with his mistress. And again, her having the urge to check his husband's phone kind of makes it clear that there were issues in their marriage- including trust issues. What do you guys think about this? I just hope they don’t drag their baby in their mess.

So I was jobless for like 3 months and getting desperate af. Sending out resumes left and right, ghosted every time. Major bummer.

Then my husband's like "babe, you gotta tailor that shit." I'm thinking yeah whatever, but fuck it, nothing else was working.

Spent a whole weekend redoing my resume for this one job I really wanted. Matched their fancy corporate lingo, shuffled stuff around, the works. Felt like I was bullshitting but sent it anyway.

Plot twist: They actually called me back. Had the interview yesterday and didn't totally bomb it.

Maybe I just got lucky, but figured I'd share in case anyone else is in the same boat. This tailoring thing might actually be legit.
