Before all, I’m not used to giving recommendations, and i am on mobile so please excuse any mistakes.

The Oathbreaker series, starting with Penance of blood, is one of those that got me waiting for the shoe to drop, to give me something to understand why in all hells is this not recommended every week, and why is it not on the front page of RR.

It’s hard to explain it, but first of all, this is a BOOK. It could( and should) have a paperback, the prose, grammar and everything is professional level.

Second of all, it ticks every box i have on a book. The lore on the planet is fantastic. The characters are REAL, they are varied, they are flawed, they make you feel a multitude of emotions as you keep reading. They will surprise you on both the negative and positive, like real people.

The author takes his time showing us the world he crafted, showing us the big players, explaining the cities, the groups, the past , everything.

The world feels alive, with deep rich history, with past wars, past political conflicts, past powerhouses and also present, it never only follows the MC, it also lives on his own.

The author is very good at descriptions, and he can really make you feel immersed in this grimdark, almost souls like world.

The main character, if i had to describe him it would be a onion. He has so many layers, so many things on his past that you only find out as you read. He has seen and lived things, tragedies ( some by him, some not) and has grown a bit jaded but never one dimensional. In this series, almost everything is grey, and you will root for villains, and also abhor some of the people you know you should like.

Another thing i love, it has plot twists! It’s a real book, not a segmented story where you now where it’s heading.

All in all, i don’t have the skills to explain to you why this series is fantastic. It has 9 books worth of material, it is ( as of book 5, where i am now) one of the absolute best things i ever read, and I’ve read pretty everything lol. It’s a beautiful, fantastical series, written like a pro and executed really really well.

I have nothing to do with the writer, and it’s the first time i do a review like this, but it really bothered me how is it possible that something as well written and as fantastic as this series never gets mentioned, so if you want to read something VERY GOOD, go try it right now
