Nope. There is no "better" form of lipsync.

Unless the performance happens under a big red "LIPSYNCING" sign, lipsync is always dishonest.

There has been a weird shift in the discourse with some stans trying to split hairs among different forms of lipsync. I could go on about who is saying what and why during what but I'll keep this brief.

According to them just playing the studio track while the performers mime the lyrics is relatively honest. While the practice of using "prerecorded live vocals," or even just pitch correction and backtrack, is truly immoral and meant to trick the audience.

But no.

Lipsync is always dishonest unless admitted, and it is never admitted. The company PR calls it live, the stans call it live, the idols are careful to keep the mics to their lips and look flustered when they fail to do so.

The trick is still there, just in the form of "OMG they sound just like their recordings."

Besides, performing with backtrack and pitch correction is way tougher than lipsync to pull off, so the narrative is probably just cope from stans of groups that do the latter..

Kevin Moon was not talking about Lesserafim and I don't get why people say he was.

Lesserafim didn't feature A drag queen. The Spaghetti MV featured THREE drag artists, NANA YOUNGRONG KIM, KYAM, RINGRING. So the description is not even right. Either Kevin didn't even look at what he was criticising or he wasn't talking about Lesserafim.

Spaghetti is also not house but alternative funk. While obviously you can't escape LGBT influence in any modern US music genre, funk is not particularly LGBT-rooted like house is. So the drag artists in Spaghetti weren't there to justify the genre usage. They were there because why the fuck not. Nor was there much discussion about queer representation around Spaghetti.

EDIT: alright I got rid of the mention of another group that did recently feature ONE drag artist and got a lot of attention for it. But it is still very weird that people jumped right on LSF when, again, the description does not fit.

But it is clear Kevin wasn't talking about Lesserafim. Some people just REALLY want it to be about a HYBE group. Also I think some people REALLY want a fanwar between Fearnots and another fandom but thankfully it seems they are smarter than that.

(I prefer the term drag artist since it makes less assumptions about how the person involved identifies. Also I dislike monarchism.)

TLDR: Kevin Moon was not talking about Lesserafim. The description does not fit. They featured THREE drag artists who do drag independently and Spaghetti is not especially LGBT-rooted.

Proud of kpop fans for standing up to Chris Brown

Over the last few months we have been told that kpop is racist, sexist, zionist, everything. But today we know that this is not true.

The list of people who worked with or otherwise supported Chris Brown since 2009 is unfortunately long and star-studded.

Bruno Mars, Ariana Grande, Kendrick Lamar, Justin Bieber, GloRilla, Metro Boomin, Anderson .Paak, TY Dolla $ign... and many many more sadly.

And these stars never faced any consequences for their actions and are more popular than ever today. This is because most fandoms cannot stand on business.

Kpop fans are built different. They stood up to BTS and Chris Brown as is only right.

My only regret is that none of the names above ever collaborated with anyone in kpop, else the kpop fans would have had their voices heard.

Your favs are not better. They are just less popular.

Here's some harshness coming down your throat.

Higher charting does not mean the song is better. True. But nothing does.

Good or bad in a song is entirely subjective. You waste your breath when you scream and shout that a song doing numbers your favs could only dream of is somehow "bad."

McDonald's gets more revenue than any Michelin starred restaurant, sure. But sir, you stan a Wendy's.

Also, why are people surprised to see that the most popular groups globally get defended?

BTS has 36 million monthly listeners on Spotify right now. Katseye has 35M. Lesserafim has 21M, or 17M just before Iconic by Mistake got released. Cortis has 12.9M.

The biggest SM group has 11.2M. Melon's ENTIRE monthly active user base is 6M.

So to circle back, your fav's songs aren't better, despite the lack of dozens of "valid criticism" thinkpieces. People just aren't listening.
