Plate Resistor Help

Plate Resistor Help

I'm dumb. Explain how the plate resistor turns this 12AX7 triode from a current amplifier into a voltage amplifier. Explain how the cathode resistor voltage changes with the plate resistor voltage. I read the garden hose analogy on Rob Robinettes page 25 times and cant figure out what the hell he's talking about. I want to understand this in an analogy to a garden hose and water pressure but I also might be able to understand it in terms of voltages and current. I redrew the schematic. Im a little worried that filter cap is not drawn in the right place. EDIT: Please note: the cathode resistor should be connected to ground.

Remarkable 2 Troubleshoot

My remarkable 2 is going into text mode randomly and persistently. I rebooted and that didn't help. I am not selecting "text" mode but it randomly forces me into text mode. Any help?

How Do I Get This Sound https://youtu.be/j5MlHjA1I5A?si=Y2uGYVyHMit78u-6

I ran a guitar into an overdrive into a fender 5e3 clone. I like the effect i got when the guitar kind of gets blocked out... kind of "chokes" or "gets buried" and disappears for a second. Maybe thats blocking distortion. Im not sure. But I can't get my amp to do that now! Any guesses as to how i can try to create that "choked" sound again. https://youtu.be/j5MlHjA1I5A?si=Y2uGYVyHMit78u-6

▲ 1 r/pedals

I'm thinking of buying the little black box because I need a volume knob on a power amp. I feel a little dumb spending 40 bucks on a volume pot... is there another solution. Like i have EQ pedals...overdrives...

My 5E3 is too loud for my apartment. I was considering putting a voltage divider and line out jack that would capture the signal after the output transformer. Then plug that into a little 1 watt or maybe a 5 watt power amp. Is there any reason this wouldn't sound as good as the regular 5E3 but quieter. Or is the voltage divider idea going to treat some frequencies differently than others? Thanks. EDIT: I would have an attenuator on the speaker out.

I'm running a Fender 5E3 clone into an attenuator. The signal over drives a lot more when I use the attenuator than without it. What i mean is with volume at 2 on the amp without the attenuator its a fairly clean sound. Volume on 2 with the attenuator the sound is much more overdriven (but not as loud of course.) Using two different model attenuators : 2 notes captor and fractal x-load. Same thing with both. Why do attenuators make the signal overdrive early?
