Anybody ever tried retr0briting these translucent cables from the G3-G4 era?

I've been thinking about giving it a try myself, but want to make sure no one else says "yeah I tried it and it doesn't work."

Evolution of Apple Studio Displays

New video out today, thought I'd try something a bit different for this one. More of a documentary style than anything. Let me know what you think!

Free or For Sale - Apple M2452 and M7803 Keyboards

I have a number of spare Apple G3-G4 keyboards that I'd like to sell or give away. All of them are tested-working but the lower-grade units have some issues. They are divided into several lots based on model and condition.

Lot A: Apple USB Keyboards (M2542) in Graphite with the longer USB cable, originally for the Power Mac G4 (Graphite). Each has been THOROUGHLY CLEANED (keys off!) and disinfected, including the cable. $25 each plus shipping if needed.

Lot B: Apple Pro Keyboard (M7803). Has been THOROUGHLY CLEANED (keys off!) and totally disassembled to clean out the junk from the rear acrylic housing as well. $25 plus shipping if needed.

Lot C: Apple Pro Keyboards (M7803). These all work but have one or more issues so they have not been cleaned as thoroughly, just a quick wipe-down and cable cleaning with IPA. Each has a broken or missing adjustable foot, and may also have stuck/broken keys, dirt inside the housing, etc. Each is FREE to a good home.

Located in Virginia, USA. Pickup/meetup preferred but willing to ship at buyer's expense.

Did you know Apple made versions of their Studio and Cinema Displays with logos color-coordinated to the G4 tower of the time?

From L-R:

15" Studio Display (Acrylic - Graphite logos)

17" Studio Display (Acrylic - Quicksilver logos)

17" Studio Display (Acrylic - Mirrored logos)

People often have no idea that this was a thing, but the Studio and Cinema Displays sold between 2000 - 2004 had logo coloring that was color-matched to the G4 tower of the time.

The 15" model is the one exception - it was only ever made with Graphite logos as far as I can tell. The 17" ADC CRT also only ever got Graphite.

The 17" displays were made with all three variations - here is the Graphite version, and the other two are shown in the image.

The 20" was introduced when the MDD was already out, so it only ever got the mirrored finish.

The 22" was produced in Graphite and Quicksilver, and was discontinued for the 23" with mirrored logos when the MDD was released.

Just a neat piece of vintage Apple trivia!

New video on the May 2026 System Source warehouse sale

There was a lot of interest in the warehouse sale I posted about last week, so I produced an episode on the event and what it was like to attend in person, linked here.

This event was a combination warehouse sale, swap meet, and also museum tour day. I made the trip up to Maryland to check it out. Truly a spectacular sight and had a lot of fun meeting other collectors/enthusiasts as well. I picked up a few goodies myself and look forward to returning in future years.
