Houston businesses that support local schools?

Does anyone know of local Houston businesses or organizations that are good about supporting schools or community programs? I work with students experiencing housing instability, and we currently have a few kids who urgently need basics like a week’s worth of clothes and toiletries. I’ve reached out to a few larger/name-brand stores but haven’t had much luck, so I’m hoping someone here might know of smaller local businesses or organizations I could contact. Thanks!

Would a grill impression/mold be safe for a front tooth that has been partially rebuilt with composite?

Hi! I'm hoping someone can give me some advice before | get a custom grill.
When I was about 14, I chipped one of my front teeth about halfway. My dentist rebuilt the missing bottom half so that it looks like a normal tooth again. I'm not 100% sure what material was used, but I think it may be composite bonding/build-up. The restoration has been there for years and hasn't given me any problems.
I really want to get a custom grill, but I'm nervous about the impression/molding process. I've seen how they put the impression material around your teeth and then pull the tray out, and I'm worried that it could put too much pressure on the restored portion of my tooth and pull it off or damage it.
Could removing the impression potentially loosen or break the composite restoration? Have you seen it happen?
Also, are there any concerns with actually wearing a grill over a tooth that has this type of restoration?
I obviously plan to let whoever makes the grill know about the tooth, but I'd really appreciate a dentist's perspective before I do it. Thank you!

i think my bf broke up with me because of my High-risk HPV diagnosis

Hi everyone. I’m honestly posting because I feel so lost and I don’t really know who else to talk to about this.
I recently found out I tested positive for a high-risk HPV strain. My results were positive for “other high-risk HPV,” but negative for HPV 16 and 18. My Pap showed ASC-US, and I ended up having a colposcopy. Thankfully, everything came back normal, but I am still HPV positive.

I told my boyfriend about my results, and I was honestly terrified to tell him. I wasn’t expecting him to be angry, and he wasn’t, but he was frustrated that I was so scared to tell him. During that conversation, he mentioned that he had been having warts, but we didn’t really focus on that part because everything turned into an emotional conversation about my fear and the HPV diagnosis. I personally have never had any warts appear.

Two days later, he broke up with me. He said we were going in different directions. The timing has been extremely painful because it happened right before my colposcopy. He did offer to come with me to the appointment the morning after the break up, but at that point we were already broken up, and I felt like there was no point.

I ended up sitting in my doctor’s office alone, crying, going through the procedure without him. Ever since then, I have been completely distraught. I have cried so much, and I can’t stop thinking that maybe the reason he left was because of the HPV.

I feel dirty. I feel like my life is over. I don’t know how I got HPV, and I keep blaming myself. I know HPV is common, but emotionally it feels like my whole world changed overnight.
I guess I’m just looking for advice from anyone who has been through something similar. Did you ever stop feeling ashamed? Did your relationships survive an HPV diagnosis? How did you cope with the fear? Is your dating life okay? Do you disclose?
ANY sort of guidance at this point would help lol. thank you in advance!

[request] affirming words after a break up [US]

hi all,

It makes me so so happy to connect with strangers from all over the world through letters and postcards. I just unfortunately got out of a two year relationship, he thinks we’re going in different directions as he wants to relocate. I’m completely devastated about it, and was not ready for the relationship to end. I would absolutely love any motivational words, book recommendations, or advice on how to heal from a break up. maybe tell me about the city you’re from since i’ll probably be leaving mine pretty soon. thank u all in advance

am i carrying too many crystals at once?

hi friends! i’m somewhat new to crystals and wondering if i’m carrying too many or if some of these overlap too much
right now in my purse i carry:
carnelian
sunstone
rose quartz
pyrite
green opal

my intentions are basically:
getting out of a rut
more confidence + self esteem
more fun, adventure, and spontaneity
better social life / meeting new people
feeling more playful + passionate again

do these work well together or should i cut it down? if so, which ones would you keep for this?
also open to any personal experiences with these crystals :)

Why is EVERY movie theater crowd suddenly unbearable?

I’ve loved going to the movies ever since I was a little girl. It’s always been like my little escape and one of the few things that genuinely makes me feel good. But lately it feels like NO ONE has theater etiquette anymore??

I swear every 8 out of 10 movies I go see, there are people talking loud next to me through the ENTIRE movie, pulling out their phones constantly, and I’ve even had people answer phone calls in the middle of the theater. Like… what is the point of paying to see a movie if you’re just going to talk the whole time??

I’ve even tried avoiding discount Tuesdays and started paying extra for IMAX/4D tickets because I thought maybe standard showings just attracted bigger/louder crowds, but it honestly doesn’t matter what day or format I choose anymore. Every theater experience lately feels frustrating, distracting, and rude.

I’ve genuinely considered cancelling my unlimited membership because it just doesn’t feel enjoyable anymore.

Is anyone else dealing with this? If so, what are y’all doing about it????
