(0.9n) Do sprinklers water upwards?

As said in the title. I know sprinklers water a 4 meter area around themselves horizontally, but i'm wondering if they also water things 4 meters away vertically. like. if i nailed plantpots to the walls to make a bush-wall, would the pots get watered by a sprinkler on the floor?

(0.9n) I'm built different. built Stupid.

THIS VIDEO CONTAINS SPOILERS FOR DAY 44 CONTENT!

you have been warned.

anyway here's a video of my >!Firetank!< melee-only strategy. not pictured here: the at least 10 failed attempts, 2 times where the tank just Ate my axe after i ragdolled, Me, getting the tank unstuck during the first part, and the final bit of the fight (which only took about 2 minutes) (after a break in which i waited for the frame assembler to finish so i wouldn't be dealing with lag.) and an entire successful fight where i recorded using the low-quality camera and found myself Dissatisfied with how it looked so i had to buy a medium quality one while the tank was actively At My Base so it was a bit of a hassle. I also have a bit of video of me luring the tank down to my base, as well as it first spawning, though these are taken with the low-quality camera and thus suck.

(0.9n) Tips and tricks for melee combat

WARNING, THIS CONTAINS SPOILERS FOR DAY 40+ CONTENT, AND IS NOT A GENERAL GUIDE.

So i'm kind of stubborn and cannot be bothered to make molotovs/bombs of any kind because why would i do that when i could just. Not get hit. Here's what i learned from my melee-only, no-healing items, no fire suit fight with the tank.

1: Circles are the strongest shape. this is true in many games, and applies here as well. if you run around the tank in circles fast enough, it cannot shoot you- with a caveat

2: proximity is your friend. you want to be right up next to the tank when applying your circle technique, because being so close forces the nozzle of the tank to point down, slowing its turnspeed. if you're too far from the tank, it'll keep up with your circles.

You may be wondering 'how do i get close to the tank when it's aiming at me already and also approaching with malicious intent?'

Just. run at it. screaming. Sprint directly at the tank, straight a line as possible. or, well. not directly at it, you want to aim slightly to the left or right so as not to get run over, but the flamethrower actually takes a moment to start firing, and by sprinting past it so closely you force it into 'slow turn' mode near-instantly.

Now comes the the battle of attrition. the weakspots of the tank are the two gas cannisters strapped to the back of the flamethrower-nozzle-compartment thingy, which is fine, you're already employing Circles as the strongest shape. the issue is that theyre elevated juuuust out of easy melee range, and if you misstep and touch the tank treads you'll ragdoll and drop your weapon.

Heres where i learned some interesting behavioural patterns! during my 10+ minute circle-combat with a tank, i discovered the tank likes to either move its bottom half (the treads) to turn so that the headlights are facing you then attempt to run you over, or move the top half, the nozzle, to try and shoot you. I also, consequently, discovered that it's only the front half of the tank treads that cause ragdolling! as long as you make sure you're not touching the headlights-half of the tank, you're pretty much fine.

The tank also does not like trying to back up. if you're directly behind it, instead of doing the smart thing and hitting reverse in an attempt to run you over, it'll instead sloooowly turn so that the 'front' is facing you, then attempt to run you over.

now, while all of this is happening, the top half of the tank is still also trying to kill you; the turret turning to try and fry you to a crisp. as long as you keep circling, its fine, but trying to string in hits like that is kind of a pain.

My strategy was this: get 'behind' the turret, then pause and wait while the machine turns- when it's treads were facing me, but the turret was still lagging behind (facing either directly left or right), i would zip in beside it, jump, and take a whack at the cannisters.

it took a while, and a lot of save-reloading when i inevitably messed up and ragdolled (instant reset, no way was i trying to find my axe in the grass at night while actively being attacked), or just mistepped a few too many times and got flamered to death.

anyway, veterans of the game probably already know all of this stuff, but i just wanted to share.

(note: unlike the tank, abandoned kerfur is not weak to circles, especially in phase 3. it is instead, weak to lines. run at it, exchange a hit, turn on a dime and joust again. you will inevitably get stabbed a few times, but its doable. (unless you know the 'command grab' strategy, which is just superior in every way tbh))

▲ 2 r/snakes

A strategy I found useful that may help others.

If you own a snake, you've likely been bitten/worried about being bitten during feeding (unless you use like, tongs or something but i dont have those unfortunately). Something I've figured out with my cornsnake is that snakes, much like dogs, can be trained. (Sort of.)

Its called 'target training' and i've seen aquariums use this when feeding their (sting?)rays in the petting tank. Essentially, they slide a large, brightly coloured panel into the water, and only toss food in the area of that panel. this teaches the rays that food only comes when the panel is in the water, and also that food only shows up by the panel- preventing the rays from thinking small child hands might be food and attempting to monch.

I've done the same with my corn, and it works! it used to be that whenever i opened the tank he would come zooming out in the expectation of food, and i'd have to be careful on approach. Now, I only feed him in a special 'feeding box', and even in the feeding box, he only gets fed after i use a coloured dustpan to kinda block his vision. I've never had a biting incident since.

Just thought people might find this useful.
