I have an Iomega eGo external hard drive that I think I used with a very old version of Microsoft. The TL;DR is that I'm pretty sure the encryption requires an older computer to give me the password input, and so only shows up as a CD Rom. I'm not worried about the data and just want to reformat the drive so I can recycle it. I can't reformat it, though, because it doesn't show up as a hard drive.

Please help!

Here is the process I've gone through to get to this point:

• On my Windows 11 machine, when I load it, it shows up as: CD Drive (D:) Iomega_CD.
• When I click on it, it gives me the file: IomegaEncryptionSetup.
• When I click that, it either loads a window with four options to check and uncheck what to do with the program is loaded or opens a compatibility assistant that ends up saying it can't make it compatible.
• I Googled all of this and came up with the result that I probably need an old machine to get the encryption password screen to open, which I don't have.
• I'm pretty sure that there's nothing on this drive I need, so it's not worth finding an old machine.
• I tried right-clicking it, but it doesn't give me the option to format (which makes sense given it's CD Rom disguise).
