Applying to 6 different schools and need advice on which ones are actually worth it

For some context, I’m 27 years old currently on my 3rd semester of community college. Instead of a high school diploma I had just gotten my GED. So my academic background is not traditional at all. This is the list of schools I’m potentially thinking about ranked in order from highest priority to lower (FYI, I am a duel citizen so there are US and Canadian schools here)

Toronto Metropolitan University
Dalhousie University in Halifax
University of Waterloo
Boston Architectural College
New York Institute of Technology
Portland State

TMU is absolutely my top choice as I have friends and family there already. I know the admission acceptance is heavily dependent on the portfolio so that makes me a bit nervous. I have a background of street art and murals and some other hand drawings.

BAC is one that I’ve been back and forth with. I think the open admissions is really cool and if it wasn’t for the expensive living costs in Boston, I’d do. Another thing with BAC is the fact that it’s a work while you study thing too, my studio projects might lack quality and idk if I’d be missing out on experiencing a traditional studio space in other universities.

One of the things that has been bothering me a little bit is the fact that I’m 27 and going down the traditional university route I wouldn’t be getting licensed until I’m close to 40. Would going to BAC be worth it to shave off those years of being in an apprenticeship or is the experience better to have?

I’m also going to be doing long distance with my gf as well, but that’s another conversation.

I guess what I’m asking is, is it worth chasing the fastest option even if the school is weaker, or should I hold out for the better program and just accept the extra years. And if anyone has firsthand experience at any of these 6 schools I would really appreciate hearing about it, Good or bad.

How can I support my girlfriend who is currently going through her fieldwork?

Hello! So, my girlfriend is a couple weeks into her fieldwork. I believe it’s acute care? She’s dealing with the patients who are first arriving to the hospital. It’s fast paced, stressful, and honestly she is getting mentally overwhelmed. She’s been doing an amazing job, but from what she’s told me, her CI’s are an absolute nightmare. From what she’s told me, she will be working with a patient and whether she is taking her time and being careful, or doing the wires too fast, her OT will be very difficult with her and provide zero constructive criticism. It’s a constant battle between that and working 5-6 10 hour days a week. She’s not being given 30 minute breaks, and while all of her other classmates seem to have the freedom of taking off days n such, she is almost forced to attend her days and if she misses a day, forced to make it up. Long story short, she is not in a good headspace and I feel like I can’t help as much as I want to. What are some good ways I could be there for her? Any specific ways I can support her while she is going through her fieldwork?

It’s so fucking hot I’m going insane

I know that it’s not as hot as it will get or whatever I’ve lived here my entire life but Jesus fucking Christ I’m gonna lose it. First off my cars AC is shit, it barely works and my car gets steaming hot when it sits in the sun for an X amount of time. Even when my ac does get going I’m still sweating my ass off when I’m driving, like I can’t get away from it and I want to explode, I get so frustrated. I hate the heat I hate it I hate it I hate it

After 2 and a half years into our relationship, me (27M) and my gf(26F) will be going long distance, I need advice.

For context, I'm (27M) and she's (26F). this is the best and most healthiest relationship I've ever been in. We do currently live an hour and a half away from each other but I wouldn't necessarily call it long distance. We see each other pretty frequently, and we make it work. We are good at communicating, and she's just amazing. Anyways, next summer I'll be moving out of the country to go to school and she won't be following right away. The plan is, I'm going to go move and the career she is in will allow her to travel maybe every 4-6 months. She'd have off of work for maybe 1-2 months, and just stay with me in that time, or go back to her hometown, etc. Seems like a good idea. But neither one of us have done long distance, I even told myself before that I'd NEVER do long distance. But for her, she's worth it in my eyes.

There was a compromise, before, she said that she wouldn't uproot her life for someone she isn't married too, and Ive said that I wouldn't marry anyone unless I've lived with them for at minimum a year. Which for both, are pretty understandable in my opinion. I suggested that I could propose before I leave and we can just not get it officiated until I graduate, which by then, she will be up living with me. I'm okay with this as I 100% see her being in my life forever. However, im scared about a couple things..

Since neither of us have done long distance, true long distance.. are we blind to it all? Will it be alot worse than we think? I would absolutely hate to lose any spark that we have had, or I'm scared I won't be able to make her feel special in the ways I'm able to when I'm close to her. I feel like I might be a bit naive to it all and I want to know what to expect once it happens. Feel free to ask me anything.
