How have A/A* students managed to balance social life and school?

We are told by nearly everyone that one you begin your A-level journey, especially in year 13 that we must sacrifice our social life. However, I have noticed that this is not always the case in my environment, as I frequently see dumps and videos of students enjoying life outside of education on their social media whilst posting their A/A* results on August 13th on some of the most difficult subjects such as Further Maths/Physics. I have found A-level content to be very challenging in the sense of the amount of content and practice I must put in especially for an A grade and yet the lifestyle they seem to post online seems impossible to maintain simultaneously. Do any high achieving students have any advice or does it all come down to 'natural intelligence' which lets them have the freedom of maintaining such a lifestyle and good grades?
