Any pygmy sunfish keepers around? Need help sexing
Hello everyone! I have a wonderfully cluttered tankful of elassoma evergladei. I was supposed to have 2 males and 4 females, but am fairly certain I actually have 5 males and 1 female! The first picture is how my 3 probably-young-males look. They do vary in coloration and can darken up, but never as dark as my primary male who is the thick dude in the second photo. My female stays a lot thicker in the belly than these guys do, but i know pygmy sunfish can be difficult to sex. Im lucky to have a very well established layered hierarchy in my tank and no one in particular gets picked on, so even if they are mostly dudes it turned out well anyhow. They all have equal and even access to food because of the microfauna present in the tank + supplemental live feeding. (As you can see by their bellies).
Is there any chance at all the first pic is a female? Your insight is appreciated!
