Wingfoil pump cadence for light wind take offs

Hey guys

I’m trying to decide which wing cadence is best for light wind, I can take off in 12/11 knots or so with a 5.4 wing, but I’m still not sure which is the best starting technique:

  1. Bigger slower wing pumps —> medium cadence—> faster shorter cadence

  2. Shorter wing pumps —> medium cadence —> faster shorter cadence

  3. Shorter wing pumps —> bigger slower pumps —> medium —> faster pumps

In your opinion what is the best starting technique?

Thanks!

Which GONG v3 stab to buy next?

Hello guys!

I'm around 80kg, wingfoil background and can pump for around 1 min if I push hard with my current setup:
- Trail XXL v3 Frontwing

- Curve XXL v3 Stab (from my wingfoil setup)

- 70cm mast

I think now I'm ready to upgrade to a smaller stab, I researched and some people say that a veloce M/S would be a good choice, I don't know if I should go for a veloce/curve L or try to go smaller with a S size. I need to downgrade my front soon because it's huge for my weight but maybe the stab is the easier upgrade for now. Also now there are the ATMOS versions which could also be a possibility.

In your opinion, when downgrading should I go for the M/L sizes or already downgrade to a S size?

EDIT: I want to prioritize a bit more time on the foil - maybe around 2/3min goal and a bit of wake thiefing

Thanks!

Any tips on my pumpfoling technique?

Hey guys

I've been pumpfoiling for around 12 sessions (I wing foiled before), so far I'm doing the reverse dock start.

my self analysis:
- I'm finding it difficult to get my back feet in the right position after I jump, looks like the back foot is always landing too far on the edge, in this clip I was able to correct it but it's not everytime I can correct after jumping, any tips? Maybe it's lacking a bit of twisting on the body?
- In this clip looks like I'm not releasing my backfoot when I'm pumping, usually I try to do it but this time I was not releasing the back foot so much

- my arms looks a bit weird, I think I saw one guy saying if they are far from your body, you will lose energy, I guess I need to use them more or keep them a bit tighter

Any other inputs or tips? Everything is appreciated thanks :)

EDIT:
My setup
- Gong trail XL front wing (huge)

- Gong fluid L stab

- 70cm mast

- 79kg rider

Impressions on Amoral / Amotik

Hey guys

I’ve seen many many times that Amoral and Amotik played at Berghain but I have never heard them myself live(only on yt). This weekend they play at RSO, what are your thoughts on them?

Thanks 🫶

Advice on water starts (vid)?

Hey guys

It’s been my second day trying to do a start but I feel that when I jump I always lose a lot of mast height.

I think my problem is that
- I’m not getting enough speed,
- my landing isn’t always good, sometimes back foot too much to the back, sometimes front foot not forward
- stalling the foil, I’m pumping when the nose is up so I don’t get enough speed

Any other points to mention? I’m doing this push start since it’s more comfortable for me, I can’t really jump with my hands on the board, I’m not that flexible 🫩

Thanks

Gong experts - what can I use from my Wingfoil setup?

Hey guys

I’m getting into pump foiling, 79kg, can do a few start with a few pumps and now I’m trying to buy my own Pumpfoil setup

I have currently a v3 curve XL setup that I wonder if I can use at least the fuselage, and stab maybe?

- gong v3 curve stab XL (I know the pump foil stabs are much smaller, I guess it doesn’t make sense to use this for pumping since it would be too stable right?
- gong v3 fuselage
- mast 85cm (I think the mast definitely I should get a 75cm )

What would you do if you were in my case? Or just give up and buy a competly new setup

Your feeling/experience towards longer boards?

Hey guys

Just chatting away, probably a shit post since I didn’t try out my new setup: 5’10 hiper diamond, fluid v3 1380cm2 HA

What’s your opinion on longer boards? So far I’ve used only the “nugget” style, which are fat and wide. With this 5’10 board it feels huge even thought it’s 100L so not really a huge board,
Did it feel weird at first for you or did you get used to it fast?

For those that own Gong Hipe Cruzader

Hey guys

Asking around for some help buying my first board. I've already rented a couples times some bigger boards and now I'm ready to have my own board 😄

The latest one I've had success with was a north seek 98L in a not so choppy environment, I'm around 80kg (dry).

I know that the liters of inflatable boards are different than rigid but I'm wondering if a 98L rigid is more similar to a 6'6 Hipe Cruzader 115L or a 7'0 126L ( https://www.gong-galaxy.com/en/products/gong-wingfoil-inflatable-hipe-cruzader-26)

The 7,0 seems quite big so I'm leaning more towards the 6'6, I can foil consistently, pumping skills are okayish and I'm working on gybes

Would you guys in my place go for a 6'6 or a 7'0? Or even completly skip it and go for a Gong Diamond (mid length)

My "home spot" is not so reliable with the wind, it's a lake so it can range from 10kt -20 knots

Thanks

Problems pumping board

Hey guys

I’ve been trying to pump my wing and foil at Óbidos (without so much wind and with a lot of sea weed)

I’ve seen a lot of videos to not lean back, keep chest over board and pump in a cross downwind angle but every time I pump the board my boards nose want to dive, I feel like I’m probably stepping with too much pressure, do you guys have any tips? Do you step on the board with all your weight?

Thanks

Am I dumb or is my Duotone valve broken?

Hey guys

I bought a used 2023 Duotone unit and I never had Duotone wings. I bought the adapter but somehow it doesn’t stick correctly and when I remove it the air goes out from the inflatable valve.

I thought that I needed to insert and turn it clock wise to inflate and then later counter clock wise to make the valve “lock”. I’ve tried all of the possible ways.. any ideias?

Edit: thanks for the suggestions but I think it is indeed broken because when I turn it clock wise, it just keeps turning and it doesn’t lock, I compared with a spare one that I have and on that one, when I turn clock wise it locks, similar to when you close a water bottle 🫩

Hey guys

I live close to a very nice place that I can do wingskating when I'm not on water but I've been getting some mixed recommendations, asking ChatGPT, longboard with bigger wheels is the recommendation but I've read some people say that Surfskate is a better choice

For me I value more stability over super carving angles and such, for those that wingskate, would you go for a Surfskate or longboard? Or something else?

Thanks
