sewing machine recommendations??

I have been sewing on a singer simple for about two years now. It’s not bad, but I am looking for something a little more sturdy and better quality and something that last a little longer. I am only familiar with singer machines, I am considering a singer heavy duty.
I love to work with denim and canvas.
I need some stitch options, the more the better, but only necessary with zig zag and overlock option with the right presser foot. But I would like to have some more options for fun.
It can’t be too old, because extra parts for old machines are difficult to get here.
It also needs to be able to sew through several layers.
I’ve heard good things about the bernina machines as well.

what kind of fabric is this??

I have this fabric at home, we bought it because it was 40% off, but I cant remember what kind of fabric it is. It looks almost like satin, has kind of the same feel, just more plastic. I think I searched it up when we got it because I had never heard of the fabric before, and if i remember correctly, it is made out of plants, but also plastic.

Any tips for tension, stitch length and how to iron??

next step making a corset?

I am making an underbust corset with a lining (the darker one) and outer fabric (the shiny one). I have sewn together the lining with the boning. I used the plastic ones to just sew right onto the fabric. I have also sewn together the outer fabric. What is the next step now? Sewing the two pieces together? I am not going to use a zipper.
Any other tips for making a corset are also welcome!

my machine sews weird stitches

I am using my grandma’s old singer 634G sewing machine. I managed to thread it, but the stitches are looking bad, especially the back stitches. Now it also just stopped sewing, making this sound like it was stuck. I couldn’t move anything.
I also included the settings if that has anything to do with it. I also have no idea if it’s threaded correctly, since I don’t have a manual and didn’t find anything on youtube.
Any help to fix this issue??

Upcycling an old dress

I would like to upcycle this dress into a two piece, because it is too big on me, but I love the skirt and the little embroidery on the top. I would like to keep the skirt as it is, just cut it off of the top and put on a waist band. For the top I am wanting to make a corset inspired crop top, with the embroidery as the yoke. The other part of the top is not important to me. I want the top to either be strap less or have butterfly sleeves. The back is just a waffle seam.
What is the best way to do this? Is it even possible?
I know that I am going to need more fabric, but that should be an easy fix.

Need help and advice making a prom dress

I am going to make a prom dress, but I need some advice. I am not a total beginner, but I have never made a dress before, so for this project I definitely am.
For the top I want butterfly sleeves, and a little boning and structure under the bust and for the waist. I have already made a top with the sleeves, turned out the way I wanted. I have also made a corset as practice, it wasn’t too difficult and turned out okay, except that it was ugly and too big.
For the skirt, I want a waterfall skirt or a high to low skirt, with two layers. However I can consider making a different and easier skirt.
For the fabric I really want some sort of satin or similar, even though I know its is difficult to work with. For the skirt I also want a top layer with a thinner, more see through fabric like chiffon I think.
I have like 8 months to make it.
Any tips would be helpful.
Inspo pics enclosed. (These are not mine)
