MK6 GTI Water pump fitment
Hello all, I'm the proud owner of a manual (not sure if thats relevant here) MK6 (2012) GTI! Recently the water pump began to leak, just after 100k miles (lucky me!), since my oil cooler gasket had been neglected, i decided to go ahead and pull the intake manifold to gain access to both the water pump and oil cooler. I'll also be installing a FMIC and new suspension after this job, but that's besides the point.
Where the issues start is installing the new water pump. I'm not quite ready to install it yet, but i noticed that my stock plastic water pump has 1 electrical connector on the top of the water pump housing, and an additional one lower down, on the side of the thermostat. The new, metal, Gates waterpump i picked up from Rock Auto doesn't have this additional lower connector. How big of an issue is that and what's next for me?
I'm still somewhat new to cars, as this is my first car and I'm young, so bear with me. Google says that the duel connector is an indicator of a CBFA motor, but my VIN reads as a CCTA and the car itself has never even been in California, let alone sold there. Any help or advice is much appreciated, and any holes in info i left I'd be glad to fill.
Apologies, I'm a bit scrambled right now because this is a lot and I'm looking at not having a drivable car for another few days at least. Thanks tons!
Edit: Not sure how helpful it is, but this car was previously owned in the Northeast (US), and currently i own it in Texas.
