Do I have airflow direction correct? Also, I believe my system can support 2" filters. Should I consider moving to 2"?

Was going to paint the soffit all one color - to match the gray going on the walls. Now I’m questioning if I should match it to walls or ceilings, etc.
just repainted ceiling flat white and walls are primed.
Help!!
