Flamingo Feather…white?

Flamingo Feather…white?

Does anyone have experience growing flamingo feather celosia and why mine are consistently white instead of pink? They are healthy otherwise with 4’ + stems, just can’t get the color to come in! Am I harvesting too early? Or any tips in general for harvesting?

Created LLC (flower farm) and denied a business credit card

Started my LLC last month and attempted to get Chase Business Ink as I have multiple accounts with Chase (including Business Checking account), however, I was denied based on low first year revenue projections. Starting a flower farm, I don’t believe I’ll be able to make enough sales by the end of year as things start to slow down and get colder going into fall, so I was honest about projections and that was why I was denied.

Is a business credit card totally necessary starting out? I have excellent credit and have two personal cc currently. Wondering if I can make one my dedicated “business card” to keep all business related expenses in one place until I can qualify for an actual business card.

What’s the point of using a registered agent for privacy if your address will be shown on Public Information Report?

In Texas if this doesn’t apply to all states - I just formed my first LLC and since I run my business from home I made sure to use my registered agents address as the mailing address to keep my privacy. I’ve noticed though that other sample LLCs I’ve checked all have a public information report which shows the members/owners and their home address. Am I missing something?

Growing shorties 😢

Hi y’all,

This is my first year flower farming and almost every type of flower I’ve managed to grow to the point of blooming, or nearly blooming, is far shorter than the seed packet says it should be.

Lisianthus stems are only about 5 inch tall,
Strawflower stems about 5 inch
Gomphrena stems about 3 inch
Flamingo Feather Celosia stems about 4 inch
Rudbekia stems about 4 inch

Any tips on what I could do to increase stem length? I’ve pinched the Gomphrena and celosia with the hope that will help (TBD). Not sure if I should be fertilizing more? Thanks in advance!

Short Rudbekia Stems

Hi all, this is my first time growing Rudbekia (Cherry Brandy) and the stems are consistently 8” or shorter. Any tips for encouraging a taller stem? I’ve been cutting at the base of the plant, but the plant itself seems on the short side.

Recommendations for wedding in 100 days

Hi everyone! I’m in my first year of cut flower growing and wanted the challenge of growing the majority of the flowers I’ll use myself. Not sure if I’m biting off more than I can handle but I’m not super focused on florals so if it doesn’t work out I won’t stress!

My primary wedding colors are green, white and burgundy. Anyone have recs for quick to bloom flowers I can grow in that timeframe that meet those color requirements? Many thanks in advance!

Anyone know what pests are on my Rudbekia?

Noticed a bunch of tiny holes through my Rudbekia/black eyed Susans and on the underside of them are these larvae. Anyone know what these are and how to prevent?

What size LED sign for flower wall?

Hi all! I’m getting married in September and planning on buying a custom LED sign off of Amazon or Etsy for my 8x8 ft flower wall. Anyone have tips on the best size (length wise mostly) for the LED sign so it’ll be visible in photos? We will have a photobooth in front of the wall and don’t want the text cut off. Thanks!

Flamingo Feather Okay?

Hi all, this is my first time growing flamingo feather celosia (trying out in soil blocks). These are a little over a two months old and not sure if it’s typical for them to grow with leaves facing up instead of outwards?

Is this Echinancea Purpea?

Hi all, I’m growing echinancea purpea for the first time from Johnny’s and in the same soil block tray I have 3 different looking plants 😂 I figured the plant with the small and larger leaf is the echinacea, but I am also seeing one with a jagged leaf (circled in red) and a larger one (circled in teal) that is growing much faster than the rest.

Planting out Gomphrena

Hi all, I started Gomphrena from seed in 3/4” soil blocks a little over a month ago and based on Lisa Mason Ziegler’s advice, she recommends planting out when they’ve reached 3”-5” tall.

Mine are more stout and seem to be growing wider but not taller (about 1” tall). Any tips on if I should continue waiting or plant out?

Peggy Martin Yellowing with Spots?

This is my first year growing a rose (currently in a container with mulch) and over last week it’s started yellowing with spots on leaves. I water it maybe once a week with all the rain we’ve been getting lately and unsure if this is Black Spot disease and if so, what can be done to treat it ? It’s in a spot where it receives at least 6 hours of sun a day if that helps. Many thanks!

Garden Soil Recs

Interested if anyone has recommendations on where to get garden soil mixes in bulk (for raised beds) that work well for your veggies and flowers?

I got the Garden Mix from Ewing Supply and all my plants are struggling 😩 It seems more clay-ey than I thought it would be and not sure if I need to start mixing in compost with these garden mixes regardless. Any tips would appreciated!
