Suggestions for button mashing games??

Have been playing Deltarune and gotten on quite well with it so far but am stuck on Flowery fight because it requires either well timed holds (which are really difficult to do on a controller because of lag) or X button mashing. I can't do button mashing because of being very prone to tendonitis from hypermobility in my wrist.

I tried setting steam input so that it fires automatically when pressed which helps *until* there is a section where you have to dodge words and towards the end go through a bunch of blocks which then makes the faster button press speed a downside. And these alternate with scenes where you need to button mash so I can't just turn down repeat fire speed for that section without it taking out immersion.

I am trying not to use a cheat mod just to get through it. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.

My orchid is dropping buds

I got this orchid from the supermarket about a week ago. I cleaned out the substrate (bark chips) and water it once a week with some drops of orchid food added. I removed the scraggly looking roots and the ball of dirt. The roots look green, and the leaves are very healthy looking. The plant is grown indoors under a normal overhead light bulb.

In fairness it has a lot of flowers/buds at once at the moment, I'm wondering if this is just the normal orchid cycle or if I'm doing something wrong?

Is it worth moving to London for 6 month contract?

I currently make £40k perm as a data engineer (6-7yoe in data, 2-3 yoe as an engineer). I have a public sector background which has made getting private sector jobs challenging (they will usually go with a private sector candidate), and I don't have SC (which would be an obvious contracting alternative and those contracts are more reliable as active SC + public sector exp is less common).

My rate is around 500 outside and 600 inside IR35 for data engineering or solutions architect roles. Of course the take home would be massively different compared to 40k perm. I am trying to save for medical treatment not covered by the NHS and moving abroad in future, so money is important.

The majority of contracts are hybrid in London. I'm wondering if it's worth it to move or should I hold out for remote or until I get SC? I'm not particularly attached to my current place in the midlands and my flat has mold problems (allergic) but London is expensive and contract market is bad so idk.

What to do about mildew smell?

I had a very small leak from underneath a pipe under a shower (a tiny drip) that caused a mildew smell over a few weeks. The leak was repaired. I removed the side panel, removed all the debris I could, and sprayed everything down with HG algae and mould remover. The crawl space is very tight, maybe 10cm, so it's very hard to mechanically scrub under there in some areas, hence the spraying.

This worked really well for about 3 days, but now the smell has come back, however there's no visible leak that I can see. Unfortunately, I'm pretty allergic to mold (my sinuses swell up and hurt, and if it's active mold I get difficulty breathing). I am guessing it is leftover dead mold. I have a dehumidifier running at 45-50% humidity target, and a Silentnight air purifier.

I rent and my agency is rubbish so if there's no visible mold they won't do anything. I'm hoping to move in a few months if I can get a job offer. What can I do in the interim (other than spray it every 3 days, which is not sustainable)?

UK-EN for reference.

Is my NHS gastro being truthful?

I have been seeing an NHS gastroenterologist for the last year or so albeit every 6-7 months because of waitlists. She has a background in IBS/functional gastroenterology, and says that gastroparesis is often partly functional and partly physiological. She says that gastric emptying studies are not always reliable (true), and that they don't always correlate well to symptoms. Those things are fair I think.

However, she has said to me that the evidence for Botox is not very strong so there isn't much point trying it. She has also said that she thinks I only have mild delayed gastric emptying so G-POEM would just make me worse. Bear in mind however I've had a breath test that shows delayed emptying and I have had an endoscopy after fasting for 6h (possibly longer overnight I don't quite remember) which showed a good amount of liquid in there, which to me feels quite self evident of delayed emptying lol.

This is the 2nd NHS doc I have seen, so I can't ask for a third opinion (and I don't want to lose goodwill and be labelled as a difficult patient and get no help which has happened to me before). She said she'd do a gastric emptying scan.

I have seen a private gastroenterologist who is a neurogastroenterologist who following the gastric breath test results has recommended Botox which I'm having Wednesday as a trial. However, he does not do G-POEM (he cites that he has seen a lot of patients have complications from it) and instead just does 'balloon pyloroplasty' which is afaik just balloon dilation and wears off after 2 years usually.

I'm lucky that I don't vomit and with a lot of effort I can keep my weight stable. However I have bile reflux often (and I have a family history of squamous cell cancer and the last thing on earth I want is esophageal cancer) even with max dose antacids + sleeping 90 degree angle, I'm on a regime of prokinetics and have to time my foods, I can't eat several types of foods, I feel tired all the time, I have to have multiple multivitamin sprays to absorb vitamins properly, I have blood sugar crashes if I don't eat every 4 hours that make me angry and anxious and have difficulty concentrating, I sometimes cough up mucus w blood in it, and I have difficulty breathing after eating. I wonder short of needing a feeding tube how much worse it could even get??? I am really tired of suffering.

I am not sure what to do in this situation. I struggled to save up enough for the Botox as is. Is the NHS gastro right?? Or it the Botox is successful should I just try for G-POEM?

tl;dr quite bad life affecting symptoms even tho I can keep weight on and don't vomit so 'look' normal. NHS gastro says don't bother w Botox because the evidence is poor, and that a G-POEM would make me worse. Private Dr says Botox is likely to help (and am having weds), but that G-POEM often causes complications so he doesn't do it.

Getting security clearance after being rejected previously?

I applied for security clearance about 4 years ago but was rejected. I don't have any drug history, lived in UK >5 years at the time, no criminal record, no adverse financial circumstances, dual national of a friendly country, but overshared on the application by saying I was estranged from biological family without being prompted to do so and put on the application please don't contact them. I was then rejected for SC, but not told why, but I'm guessing it's that because they probably thought I was mentally vulnerable. I have no contact with those relatives, they have no leverage over me financially or otherwise.

Is it worth applying to roles that will sponsor SC clearance if I apply again and don't overshare unnecessarily or is it pointless?

MBA to transition out of GovTech?

27M UK (dual US citizen). I've been working as a data engineer in a govt job for about 2 years, plus 4 years as an analyst. I have an unrelated arts degree (2.1) from a top 5 school in the UK, and no CS degree.

I am finding it hard to get any interviews for anything other than govt jobs and non-name consulting companies (doing public sector client work). I'm applying for data engineer, SWE data, solutions architect, and solutions engineer roles. Anything commercial, ideally F500 really or FAANG. That said I haven't applied to huge volumes yet (probably 100 apps?) so maybe it's a premature assumption, but it's just a trend I'm noticing.

Have been studying DSA and leetcode on the side, but if I can't get even an interview it feels a little pointless.

I don't want to pivot into IB because I have a few chronic illnesses and don't think I can hack those kind of hours. I could do 60h/wk for maybe 2 years before I burn out I think. Consulting I don't have strong feelings on either way. I'm also going to need to have a couple of surgeries which idk if that will work with an MBA schedule or if that's fine. I unfortunately need more money for medical treatment so it's hard for me being on a govt salary forever. I also need to move to the US for said surgeries for complicated reasons.

If I can get an MBA from a target school, will it help me or will it make no difference in this situation?

DE with 2yoe, and 4yoe as an analyst. I'm getting a good percentage of responses for government/public sector work at non-name brand consultancies, but struggling to get interviews for anything commercial or private sector in nature.

I do like my job, but I'm looking for other opportunities as I have personal health circumstances that require a higher cash flow for medical treatment at the moment.

I'm not sure how to make my CV more attractive to commercial industries/employers. My current work is I would say interesting in scope/nature but largely internal tooling and an ongoing process of being developed.
