Thank you r/sleeptrain

Baby is 8 months old for context.

I posted on here a month or two ago with my baby waking up every 2-4 hours overnight. I was convinced she was super overtired. The comments told me to increase her wake time from 8 hours to 10 hours per day. I originally didn’t even try this, thinking my baby would get even worse with overtiredness.

Well what do you know, a month ago I decided that my baby can’t be sleeping so badly and doing 2h wake windows anymore. I started stretching them to 3/3.5 hours with 10 hours awake total and BOOM she started doing 8 hour stretches with one wake up to eat, and she slept through the night for the first time last night!

This is my thank you to everyone here who recommends a strict schedule and enough awake time, it saved my life!

Sleep just getting worse

Since birth, my almost seven-month-old has never slept through the night. When she was between zero to two months, it honestly wasn't that bad because she was just so sleepy all the time, so I thought we lucked out. But that quickly went away and we've been up between four to six times almost every night since.

A couple of weeks ago, she somehow managed to do a six-hour first stretch out of nowhere. I didn't do anything different and our sleep was the same. I don't know how that happened. However, my issue is, she's already sleep trained. She can put herself to sleep for all naps and bedtime, but she wakes up so frequently at night. And then that's when she screams and refuses to go back to sleep unless it's been like two hours of her being awake.

So I really don't know what to do. I've tried shortening, lengthening wake windows, shortened and lengthened naps. I always, everything I see says she should be doing like up to three-hour wake windows, but she gets very overtired. But then it's like she's undertired because she doesn't have enough awake hours during the day, but she's also overtired all the time and I don't know why and I don't know how to fix it. I feel like I’ve tried everything and my husband and I are so exhausted.

The schedule I was sticking to was 2/2/2.5/2 with naps 1h, 2h and 15 min catnap. I know sh needs closer to 10h awake, but I recently went to a sleep consultant who said she needs to sleep more during the day as she’s overtired so she been on 2/2/2/2. They told me to give her as much day sleep as she wants which can get up to 4hours which I think is insane but I digress.

I see that this sub says at her age she should be doing 2.5-3.5h wake windows but she never stops screaming once she’s that overtired

Scared that I gave my baby a weird name

I named my baby daughter Aurelia. I thought that was a beautiful name that is not very common but definitely well known as I got the name from Latin Aurelius/Aurelia. Anyway, whenever I tell strangers her name they literally can’t comprehend it and need me to spell it or say it again and call her like Ariella or something. Is it a terrible name?

Edit: thanks everyone, I feel better knowing that it’s a normal name and that I’m not losing it! some people might be less well-read I guess, I was just not expecting the amount of confusion that we get daily!
