First time posting here because I’m looking for some buying & ownership advice. I’m 20 years old, live at home, make good money and have always loved cars & trucks. Currently, I drive a ‘23 Scat pack charger last call edition I bought with 10k miles. Done some mods to it, it’s nearly paid off with minimal depreciation, and I have ~10k in cash as well. For as long as he’s hosted it i’ve been going to Fitzgerald Performance twice a year and each time i’ve fallen more and more in love with wanting to build & own one of these trucks as my next toy. My price range will be ~35k and want to keep mileage under 130, I will be looking mainly for rebuilt title trucks to accommodate this (and it’s my speciality, every vehicle i’ve owned has been rebuilt due to the huge discount and I’ve yet to encounter any big issues). There are a few questions I have since I’ll be new to diesels and trucks in general. 1. From everything i’ve seen online and heard from people, these are some of the most reliable trucks GM ever made. With that being said, (other than the front end stuff, i’m well aware of those issues especially with the wheel + tire setups I’ll be wanting) what reliability concerns should I have and how many trouble-free miles can I realistically expect out of an already deleted truck? 2. How concerned should I be about the previous owner having a 5 switch on it? I know a few people who own these and see how they get treated in tune 5 sometimes (and especially at shows like FP), if it’s possible i’d prefer one without the 5 pos on it but if I can’t find one, how concerned should I be? 3. Any other general advice or things to look out for is much appreciated.
Looking at wrapping my car sandstorm here in the next couple months but am torn on which of these 3 ideas to go with. I’m leaning towards the stripes but the black hood + top + trunk is nice too. Also haven’t ruled out the solid color. Input?
This happened over a year ago now and I just postponed the court as much as I could and eventually paid it, but i’ve been thinking about it more. I pulled in, parked in a spot, and he pulled in as I was inside and got right behind my car and tint metered it. I was on the way to work so I couldn’t just go in the bathroom and wait for him to give up or get a call. I came out and he gave me the speech about my shield tint, then hands me a 250 dollar ticket for a first offense. Obviously this was unfair and ridiculous but oh well, what can you do? From what i’ve seen though, you guys apparantly have to catch the car driving on the road (which he did not, he pulled in from the opposite direction of the highway minutes after I got there. This was a city cop who all the deputies I talk to don’t like and say is “retired on duty” (lmao) but again besides the point. Was this a legal “stop”?
Mechanic is clearly just trying to scam him, should be good for another 200k miles
Wonder how he managed to fuck the front and back up on the same sides without damaging the doors at all
I have considered getting in shape and potentially getting into this when I turn 21 July after this one. I have no criminal history on record at all and the only things on my driving record are 2 MINOR at fault crashes from when I didn’t know what I was doing and first started driving. I was only even cited for one of these so all I have on my record is that. On paper I look good. I just worry about the polygraph because despite my strong work experience and pretty much flawless record I am kinda known around here for various things and I have been contacted by the cops here a good few times and let off. Once I was driving 80 in a 30 late at night drove through a 4 way stop and begged and pleaded with the cop and he only wrote me the stop sign cite which I then got dismissed at court by going on a day I knew he couldn’t be there and pushing it way out. I’m a muscle car guy and I’m young so without saying anything negative about myself draw your own conclusions for what I may do (allegedly) that could cause issues on polygraph, as well as what’s on instagram and such of my vehicle partaking in. I was also wild in school, was in a fight in town that everyone knows about but the cops never got involved in, my car and tag has been posted in the local “hip” groups several times, and am overall the kind of person who says whatever’s on my mind and has a pretty “inflammatory” online presence and attitude with life. Also allegedly have a fake, underrage nic, and party with my friends every few weekends (hypothetically drink at these). Despite all of that I have been feeling a pull toward doing this as life has started to feel aimless and like I don’t really know what i’m doing. I feel it’d be a great opportunity to serve the area i’m from, protect people, and overall a good path to making a positive impact on people and setting myself up for a good career. I just don’t know if I’d be able to clear all the non record stuff they look at. *EDIT* For my work experience I began as a stocker in a local grocery store through hs and a little into the summer of graduation, I then worked UPS, left that, did security, got fired (whole place was a bs operation so I don’t think what happened is on any records anywhere), worked in heavy industry at a concrete plant as a heavy equipment operator from March ‘25 to April ‘26, left that for excavating, left and got fired at the same time (terrible job, the worst i’ve ever had by far), and now do unarmed security at apartments till after me and my friends go to florida this summer at which point I will get back into heavy industry.
These are from right after the hit, still had my stocks on back then. Passenger headlight was replaced with a spyder unit and has held up great so far.
I know the gap comments are coming but including paying him to help me out it only costed me ~1500 for everything.
I’m 19, male, skinny for sure (138, 5’11) but we can change that of course, no record, and don’t really know what i’m doing with life. I worked for almost 2 years in a precast plant as a loader operator making around 1k-1500 a week doing 60+ hours. Left to do residential dirt work and excavating and absolutely hated it, was let go and fired kinda at the same time. Now I work unarmed security at 22/hr. Just feel like i’m floating through jobs and grinding OT with no bigger purpose or prospects to be successful and develop more as a person. I have goals of being a young homeowner and someone important and I lack some discipline and get up that I feel I could gain from joining. I graduated HS with around a 3.8 but didnt want to go to school for anything. I don’t even know what I like to do that could make me money and give me the life I want. The AF seems like the most promising branch from the little I know. I have perfect eyesight and no medical issues except moderate hearing loss in the left ear. All advice is appreciated.
